About Submer
Submer designs and delivers end-to-end AI datacenter infrastructure built around industry-leading liquid cooling.
We help organizations scale AI beyond the limits of traditional datacenters by enabling higher density, greater efficiency and lower environmental impact - accelerating time-to-AI from first deployment to full production.
What impact you will have
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead - Modular Data Centers to drive the design, development, and deployment of next-generation modular data center solutions. This role will lead cross-functional engineering efforts across mechanical, electrical, and systems disciplines to deliver scalable, efficient, and high-performance data center infrastructure.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in data center technologies and strong leadership skills to guide teams in delivering innovative, cost-effective modular solutions.
What you will do
• Lead the end-to-end engineering and technical delivery of modular data center projects
• Define system architecture for prefabricated/modular data centers, including power, cooling, and IT infrastructure
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and product) to ensure successful system integration
• Drive design standardization, scalability, and efficiency improvements across modular deployments
• Oversee vendor selection, technical evaluations, and integration of critical components (UPS, generators, cooling systems, switchgear, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, NEC)
• Provide technical guidance during manufacturing, assembly, testing, and on-site commissioning
• Troubleshoot complex system issues and drive resolution across multiple stakeholders
• Support cost optimization, reliability, and sustainability initiatives
• Mentor and lead a team of engineers, fostering technical excellence and innovation
What you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 8+ years of experience in data center design, infrastructure engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience with modular/prefabricated data center solutions
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Power distribution systems (MV/LV, UPS, generators)
    • Cooling technologies (air and liquid cooling approaches)
    • Data center networking and IT infrastructure basics
  • Experience with data center standards and best practices (Uptime Tier classifications, ASHRAE guidelines, etc.)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in technical project delivery
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with hyperscale or colocation data centers
  • Knowledge of liquid cooling and high-density compute environments
  • Familiarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and modular fabrication processes
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PE, PMP, CDCP/CDCS)
  • Experience with sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient data center design

What we offer
  • Attractive compensation package reflecting your expertise and experience.
  • Medical Insurance Plan.
  • 401k Employee volunteer contribution Plan.
  • A great work environment characterized by friendliness, international diversity, flexibility, and a hybrid-friendly approach.
  • You'll be part of a fast-growing scale-up with a mission to make a positive impact, offering an exciting career evolution.

Our job titles may span more than one job level. The actual base pay is dependent on a number of factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
