Remote 3Pl Logistics information

What is remote 3PL logistics?

Remote 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) Logistics refer to the management and coordination of supply chain operations such as warehousing, transportation, and order fulfillment by a third-party provider, all handled remotely. Professionals in this field oversee logistics processes from a distance, often utilizing technology platforms to monitor inventory, shipments, and customer orders. This setup allows businesses to outsource their logistics needs and focus on core operations, while experts manage the complexities of moving goods efficiently and cost-effectively. Remote 3PL roles are increasingly popular as e-commerce grows and companies seek flexible solutions for their supply chain.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote 3PL logistics coordinator?

To succeed as a Remote 3PL Logistics Coordinator, you need strong knowledge of supply chain management, logistics operations, and relevant educational background, often with a degree in logistics or business. Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and proficiency in tools like Microsoft Excel are typically required. Excellent problem-solving, organizational skills, and clear communication are vital soft skills for coordinating remotely with clients, carriers, and teams. These competencies ensure efficient shipment processing, cost control, and seamless collaboration, which are essential for effective remote logistics management.

What are common challenges faced by remote 3PL logistics professionals, and how can they be managed?

Remote 3PL logistics professionals often encounter challenges such as coordinating with multiple partners across different time zones, ensuring clear communication with clients and carriers, and maintaining visibility over supply chain operations without being on-site. To manage these challenges, it's crucial to leverage logistics management software, establish regular virtual check-ins, and utilize real-time tracking tools. Developing strong organizational skills and building proactive relationships with team members and clients are also key to overcoming remote work obstacles in this field.

Compensation
The compensation target for this role is: $76,500 - $90,000
Job Summary
Purple is seeking an Amazon Supply Chain & Inventory Manager to own end-to-end Amazon marketplace inventory operations as we scale our presence on the platform. This role is directly accountable for FBA replenishment planning, demand forecasting, in-stock rate performance, and out-of-stock risk mitigation across Purple's mattress and pillow assortment. Reporting to the Director of Marketplaces with a strong dotted line to Logistics and Supply Chain, this person serves as the critical bridge between Purple's internal operations and Amazon's fulfilment network.
Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Amazon Inventory & Replenishment Management
  • Own FBA replenishment planning end-to-end, including shipment creation, inbound routing, and fulfilment center placement, while monitoring daily in-stock rates by ASIN and proactively resolving out-of-stock risks before they impact sales.

  • Manage Amazon storage limits, IPI score health, and stranded inventory to optimize FBA capacity and avoid long-term storage fees; determine and maintain appropriate safety stock levels by SKU based on lead times, sales velocity, and seasonal demand patterns.

  • Evaluate FBA vs. FBM/Seller-Fulfilled Prime decisions for oversized and non-standard SKUs (critical for Purple's mattress catalog).

Required Skills, Education, Experience:
Demand Planning & Forecasting
  • Build and maintain ASIN-level demand forecasts using Amazon sales data, seasonality trends, promotional calendars, and new product launch timelines.

  • Translate Amazon demand signals into actionable replenishment and production requests for the internal supply chain and logistics teams.

Supply Chain Coordination (Dotted Line to Logistics & Supply Chain)
  • Serve as the primary Amazon inventory liaison to Purple's Logistics and Supply Chain team - communicating reorder triggers and urgency levels proactively, escalating supply constraints before they become OOS events, and ensuring inbound lead times are accurately reflected in replenishment planning.

  • Coordinate inbound shipment timelines from Purple's DCs or 3PLs to Amazon FCs and maintain and update lead time assumptions by SKU and route as supplier or logistics conditions change.

Reporting & Analytics
  • Build and maintain dashboards tracking key Amazon inventory KPIs: in-stock rate, weeks of cover, restock lag, OOS frequency, and sell-through rate and provide weekly inventory health reporting.

  • Manage FBA reimbursement of reconciliation for lost, damaged, or miscounted inventory.

  • Identify systemic inventory risks and present data-backed recommendations to improve replenishment processes.

Voice of Customer & NCX Monitoring
  • Monitor ASIN-level NCX scores and customer return reason data in Seller Central, identifying ASINs approaching Amazon's defect thresholds and escalating to eCommerce and Product teams before account health action is triggered.

  • Distinguish preference/expectation-based return drivers from product defect signals, maintain a running NCX risk tracker, and include findings in weekly inventory health reporting to eCommerce and Supply Chain leadership.

Required Skills, Education, Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered.

  • 3-5 years of experience in Amazon Seller Central operations, eCommerce inventory management, or supply chain planning.

  • Demonstrated experience managing FBA replenishment, restock limits, and IPI score optimization in a 3P Seller Central environment.

  • Experience with oversized or bulky FBA categories (furniture, bedding, or similar) strongly preferred.

  • Background working cross-functionally with logistics, warehousing, or 3PL teams to execute inventory plans.

  • Experience building demand forecasts at the SKU or ASIN level using sales data and market signals

Skills & Competencies
  • Deep fluency in Amazon Seller Central: shipment workflows, restock recommendations, inventory performance tools, and FBA fee structures

  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable building and maintaining inventory models in Excel or Google Sheets. Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Looker, or similar) is a plus.

  • Understanding safety stock and lead time modeling concepts, including how to account for variability in supplier and carrier performance.

  • Ability to translate inventory data into clear, urgent, and actionable communication for cross-functional partners in supply chain and logistics.

  • Familiarity with inventory planning tools (e.g., Inventory Lab, SPS Commerce, Cin7, NetSuite, or similar) is a plus.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple SKUs and fulfillment scenarios simultaneously.

  • Self-directed and proactive - this role requires owning problems and driving solutions without waiting to be asked.
