About the Role: 

The Services Application Engineer serves as a key technical resource, helping customers maximize the value of 3D Systems' printers, software, materials, and services. This role provides expert application support, troubleshooting, training, and technical guidance to optimize customer outcomes and resolve complex challenges.

Working closely with customers, service teams, subject matter experts, and cross-functional partners, the Services Application Engineer develops and delivers training programs, application support offerings, and best-practice resources while staying current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and customer needs. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experience.

What We're Looking For:
  • Provide expert remote troubleshooting and application support, resolving customer issues, optimizing print parameters, and ensuring maximum system uptime.

  • Support field engineers during installations, system setup, and complex technical issue resolution.

  • Deliver training and technical guidance to customers, field engineers, partners, and internal teams on 3D printing hardware, software, materials, and best application practices.

  • Coach field service and applications teams to effectively identify and resolve application versus hardware-related issues.

  • Develop and enhance training programs, documentation, job aids, and support resources to improve the customer learning experience and adoption of 3D Systems solutions.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Service, Engineering, Product Management, and R&D to support new product launches, beta testing, customer success, and continuous product improvement.

  • Partner with customers to resolve complex challenges, de-escalate issues, and build strong long-term relationships.

  • Provide application expertise to support sales efforts, customer evaluations, and the successful adoption of new solutions.

What You'll Bring: Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience as an Application Engineer or in a similar technical support role.
  • Strong technical aptitude with a passion for emerging technologies, applications, and industry trends.
  • Proven ability to manage complex customer situations, resolve issues, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Expert knowledge of technical products and solutions, with the ability to support complex customer environments.
  • Strong relationship-building, leadership, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel 25-50% and maintain a flexible schedule to support business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Additive Manufacturing, Materials, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3 years of experience in 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Experience with product design, R&D, manufacturing processes, and engineering best practices.
  • Knowledge of customer operations, technical infrastructures, and production environments.
  • Proficiency with CAD and engineering software, including AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk, 3D Sprint, or similar platforms.
