What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote 1099 Delivery Driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote 1099 Delivery Driver, you need a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage independent contractor responsibilities. Familiarity with GPS navigation apps, delivery management platforms, and smartphone communication tools is commonly required. Excellent time management, customer service, and problem-solving abilities help drivers exceed expectations and adapt to changing circumstances on the road. These skills ensure timely, accurate deliveries and positive customer experiences, which are crucial for sustained success in a competitive gig economy.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote 1099 Delivery drivers and how can they be managed?

Remote 1099 Delivery drivers often encounter challenges such as navigating unfamiliar routes, managing time efficiently between multiple deliveries, and dealing with variable workloads. Since this role is independent contractor-based, drivers are responsible for their own vehicle maintenance, fuel costs, and managing their tax obligations. Staying organized with scheduling tools, using reliable GPS apps, and keeping detailed records can help manage these challenges. Additionally, proactively communicating with clients and dispatchers can ensure smoother deliveries and better customer satisfaction.

What is a Remote 1099 Delivery job?

A Remote 1099 Delivery job typically involves delivering goods, packages, or documents as an independent contractor, rather than as a full-time employee. These positions often allow you to set your own schedule and may involve using your own vehicle or method for deliveries. Because the job is remote, much of the coordination and communication is handled online or via apps, and you are responsible for your own taxes and business expenses.

Job description

Freight Broker Agent (Remote – 1099 Commission)

Lake FX Logistics | Buffalo, NY (Remote)

The Lake FX Story

At Lake FX Logistics, we believe logistics is a people business powered by technology. Since 2022, we’ve built our reputation on a foundation of teamwork, honesty, and treating our customers like family. As we enter our fourth year of business, we’re ready to scale—and we want partners who are ready to grow with us.

We aren’t just looking for "brokers"; we’re looking for motivated individuals who want to belong to a culture that values empowerment, inclusion, and the future of logistics tech.

Position Overview

We are seeking independent Freight Broker Agents to join our team in a 1099, commission-based capacity. This is a fully remote role where you have the autonomy to build your own success while backed by a supportive, tech-forward home office.

The Compensation & Support Package

We provide the infrastructure; you provide the drive.

  • Tiered Commission: Starting at 60%–70% (based on experience).
  • Payouts: Weekly pay based on sales.
  • Bonus Potential: Performance-based incentives.
  • Full Tech Stack: Access to our TMS, CRM, Load Boards, Phone System, and Company Email.
  • Operational Support: We handle the accounting, credit checks, and back-office heavy lifting.
  • Leads: Internal lead lists are available to help you kickstart your pipeline.

What You’ll Do

  • Build Your Portfolio: Identify, land, and nurture relationships with shippers and carriers.
  • Negotiate: Secure competitive rates to ensure profitability for you and value for the customer.
  • Execute: Monitor shipments from pickup to delivery, ensuring safety and on-time performance.
  • Manage: Collect and upload all shipping documentation into the TMS for streamlined accounting.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with the Lake FX team to refine processes and combat industry fraud.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation experience.
  • Book of Business: Highly preferred (though not required for the right candidate).
  • Mindset: Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and passionate about the "hustle" of logistics.
  • Integrity: Honest, reliable, and committed to working in good faith.
  • Location: Remote; however, candidates within driving distance of Buffalo, NY, are a plus for occasional face-to-face collaboration.

Why Lake FX?

"We harness the power of human connection. Whether you’re a veteran broker or a rising star, you belong here."
