Remodeling Manager information

What does a remodeling manager do?

A Remodeling Manager oversees renovation projects for homes or commercial properties, managing everything from planning and budgeting to supervising contractors and ensuring quality work. They coordinate with clients to understand their needs, develop project timelines, and ensure that all work complies with building codes and safety regulations. Remodeling Managers also handle problem-solving during the project, track expenses, and keep clients updated on progress. Their role is essential to delivering successful remodeling outcomes on time and within budget.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a remodeling manager?

To thrive as a Remodeling Manager, you need strong project management skills, knowledge of construction methods, budgeting, and a background in building codes, often supported by a degree in construction management or related experience. Proficiency with project management software like Buildertrend or Procore and understanding of estimating tools are typically required. Leadership, problem-solving, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for coordinating teams and client expectations. These skills ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction while maintaining safety and quality standards.

What challenges does a remodeling manager face when coordinating multiple renovation projects?

A Remodeling Manager often juggles several projects at once, which can present challenges like balancing competing deadlines, managing subcontractors' availability, and ensuring consistent communication across teams. Unexpected issues such as supply chain delays or unforeseen structural problems may arise, requiring quick problem-solving and effective prioritization. Successful Remodeling Managers rely on strong organizational skills, clear scheduling, and proactive communication with clients, vendors, and crew members to keep projects on track and maintain quality standards.

Job description

Project Planner/Sales&Estimating - Common Vision

Location - Hamden, CT

Industry - Residential Remodeling

Compensation - $75,000-$90,000 + commission

Do you have a builder's brain and a salesperson's heart?

At Common Vision, we've spent 40 years earning the trust of Connecticut homeowners—so much so that over 90% of our business comes from referrals and past clients. We're looking for a Project Planner who can do it all: sell with integrity, estimate with accuracy, and guide clients through every step of their remodeling journey. If you're tired of cold-calling and ready to join a team that shares your Common Vision, we want to hear from you.

About Us

Since 1986, Common Vision has been the premier Design-Build remodeling firm in the Greater New Haven area. We specialize in transforming residential spaces through thoughtful design, expert craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to our clients. From kitchens and baths to whole-home renovations and additions, we guide homeowners through every stage of the process—from initial concept to final walkthrough.

Led by owner Cy Miller, our team operates with honesty, accountability, and a genuine care for each other and our clients. We believe in "no finger-pointing," learning from mistakes, and growing together.

Common Vision isn't just our name—it's our philosophy. https://commonvis.com/

Summary of Responsibilities

In this role, you'll combine sales acumen with project planning expertise—qualifying leads, creating detailed estimates, guiding design decisions, and preparing projects for construction—all while delivering the exceptional client experience our referral-driven reputation is built on.

What You’ll Do

  • Guide homeowners through the full remodeling journey—from first consultation to project startup
  • Qualify leads and conduct site visits to develop preliminary scope and budget expectations
  • Collaborate with designers to develop conceptual designs, specifications, and accurate estimates
  • Lead client meetings—present designs, review budgets, and guide selections with confidence
  • Prepare projects for construction—coordinate permits, documentation, and job binders
  • Partner with production during job startup and remain a trusted resource throughout construction
  • Manage active projects at various stages while staying organized and responsive
  • Build lasting relationships—most of our business comes from referrals, so client trust is everything

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–5 years in residential remodeling sales, estimating, or project management
  • Strong estimating and budgeting skills
  • Collaborative mindset—you thrive on teamwork
  • Client-first attitude with excellent communication
  • Proficiency with MS Office; experience with Buildertrend, Sage 100, or Chief Architect is a plus

Compensation

  • $75,000-$90,000 as a base salary + commission
  •  2 weeks vacation + all holidays
  • 401(k) with company contribution (after 90 days)
  • Health insurance – 60% company-covered
  • Life insurance
  • Vehicle stipend and phone stipend
  • Laptop, computer, and tablet provided
  • Hybrid work flexibility

How to Apply

  • Provide your most updated resume

We have a formal recruiting process and have a relationship with Zephyr Connects LLC, whom we use for the screening and hiring process.  If you are selected for the next step you will get instructions from Svitlana Diak within 3 days of your submission.  Everyone will be contacted.
