What is a remodeling contractor?

Remodeling contractors are professionals who manage and execute home renovation or improvement projects. They coordinate all aspects of the remodeling process, including planning, sourcing materials, hiring subcontractors, and ensuring that work is completed to code and on schedule. Remodeling contractors can handle projects such as kitchen remodels, bathroom updates, room additions, or whole-house renovations. They often serve as the main point of contact for homeowners throughout the project and are responsible for delivering quality results within the agreed budget and timeline.

What are some common challenges a remodeling contractor faces when managing multiple projects simultaneously?

Remodeling Contractors often juggle several projects at once, which can present challenges such as coordinating schedules with subcontractors, managing client expectations, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. Effective communication and organization are key to handling these demands, as delays in one area can impact overall project timelines. Utilizing project management software and maintaining regular updates with both clients and team members can help mitigate these challenges and keep projects on track.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remodeling contractor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remodeling Contractor, you need expertise in construction techniques, project management, and building codes, often supported by a contractor's license and relevant trade experience. Familiarity with tools like estimating software, project scheduling systems, and power tools is typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills help set top contractors apart. These abilities ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to client satisfaction, which is vital for reputation and business growth.

Install With Precision. Deliver Work Built to Last.

BRYJO Roofing & Remodeling is a quality-driven residential roofing and remodeling company serving the greater Dallas area. For more than 25 years, we have built our reputation on strong communication, high standards, and work done the right way.

We are seeking an experienced Residential Remodeling Tile Setter to join our subcontracting team. This role is responsible for installing tile on floors, walls, backsplashes, shower surrounds, tub surrounds, and other surfaces across residential remodeling projects.

This is a contract position. For each project, the tile setter will participate in a walkthrough, review the scope of work, and submit a bid based on the project requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong technical tile-setting experience, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to clean, precise, high-quality workmanship.

What You'll Do
  • Measure and lay out tile installations according to project plans and specifications
  • Cut tile accurately to fit designated spaces, corners, edges, and patterns
  • Prepare surfaces and apply mortar, adhesive, waterproofing, and related materials
  • Install tile on floors, walls, backsplashes, shower stalls, tub surrounds, and other residential surfaces
  • Build out shower stalls and tub surrounds from preparation through final installation
  • Ensure tile is level, properly aligned, evenly spaced, and securely bonded
  • Complete grouting, sealing, finishing, and cleanup
  • Identify substrate, moisture, layout, or installation concerns before work proceeds
  • Protect surrounding surfaces and maintain clean, organized work areas
  • Follow BRYJO specifications, project schedules, and quality standards
  • Communicate progress, material needs, delays, and field concerns to Project Managers
  • Coordinate effectively with carpenters, plumbers, designers, and other trades
  • Follow all jobsite safety requirements
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a tile setter, preferably in residential remodeling
  • Demonstrated experience building and tiling shower stalls and tub surrounds
  • Strong knowledge of tile installation methods, waterproofing systems, mortars, adhesives, grout, sealants, and related materials
  • Experience installing ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, mosaic, and large-format tile
  • Ability to perform accurate measurements, layouts, cuts, and pattern work
  • Ability to work independently and complete installations with limited supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
  • Clear communication and reliable follow-through
  • Ability to meet project timelines and coordinate with other trades
  • Proper tools, transportation, and insurance required for subcontract work
  • Physical ability to lift materials, kneel, bend, climb, and work in active residential construction environments
What Success Looks Like
  • Tile installations are level, properly spaced, securely bonded, and visually consistent
  • Shower stalls and tub surrounds are correctly prepared and waterproofed
  • Work is completed according to BRYJO specifications and project schedules
  • Finished areas are clean, protected, and ready for client review
  • Material needs and field issues are communicated before they cause delays
  • Clients and project teams receive professional, dependable service

Why Work With BRYJO
  • Hourly Wage of $23-25 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Eligble for half medical, and all of dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • PTO
  • Established residential remodeling company with more than 25 years of experience
  • High-quality projects where craftsmanship and details matter
  • Professional Project Managers and organized project communication
  • Opportunities for consistent subcontracting work
  • Collaborative environment built around integrity, accountability, and client satisfaction
  • Opportunity to build a long-term relationship with a respected remodeling company

BRYJO Roofing & Remodeling is an equal opportunity contractor. We welcome qualified applicants and subcontractors from all backgrounds.
