POSITION OVERVIEW

Starting wage is based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. UMI Stone, a subsidiary of Construction Resources, offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits.

The Commercial Sales Associate is responsible for driving commercial sales and product specifications by developing strong relationships with architects, designers, contractors, developers, and other key industry partners. This role promotes UMI Stone's products and services through relationship building, continuing education presentations (CEUs), product knowledge presentations (PKs), and strategic project engagement to increase product specifications, revenue, and market share within the commercial sector.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new commercial sales and specification opportunities within assigned markets.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective commercial clients and projects.
  • Drive commercial product specifications by building and maintaining relationships with architects, designers, contractors, developers, and other key decision-makers and influencers.
  • Conduct and coordinate Continuing Education Units (CEUs), Product Knowledge presentations (PKs), lunch-and-learns, and other educational presentations to increase product awareness and specification opportunities.
  • Build relationships with architectural and design firms to position UMI Stone products for inclusion in project specifications.
  • Track commercial projects and specification opportunities from initial engagement through project completion.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of UMI Stone's products and services, including features, benefits, applications, and appropriate commercial uses.
  • Educate clients and industry partners on product offerings and provide tailored solutions based on project needs.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, product innovations, market activity, and competitive offerings.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to remain current on product features, benefits, applications, and new product introductions.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue, specification, and growth targets.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for commercial growth.
  • Review and achieve annual sales targets, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers and industry partners.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client inquiries, project needs, concerns, and negotiations.
  • Address customer concerns and ensure best-in-class levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare accurate and timely quotes, proposals, and contracts for clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between client/project requirements and company capabilities.
  • Utilize CRM and sales tools to maintain detailed records of client interactions, sales activities, specifications, project opportunities, and revenue forecasts.
  • Generate regular reports to management regarding sales performance, specification activity, pipeline development, and market trends.
  • Proactively network within the commercial design and construction industry through trade shows, professional associations, industry events, and other relationship-building opportunities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Communications, Construction Management, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in commercial sales, architectural/design sales, specifications, building materials, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop professional relationships and influence product selection or specification.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to confidently conduct CEUs, PKs, lunch-and-learns, and other client-facing presentations.
  • History of meeting or exceeding sales or business growth targets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and sales analytics tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of the construction, architecture, design, or building materials industries.
  • Experience working with architects, designers, contractors, developers, and other commercial project stakeholders.
  • Experience driving product specifications within the architecture and design community.
  • Existing relationships within the local architecture, design, or commercial construction community are a plus.
  • Experience with surfaces, stone, tile, countertops, or related architectural/building products is preferred.
