Model Remodel, a Seattle-based general contractor specializing in high-quality residential remodeling, is seeking an Architect to join our team. This role is ideal for a technically strong, collaborative architect who enjoys partnering with designers, estimators, and production teams to set projects up for success, from early feasibility through permitting and construction support.
We're looking for someone who is detail-driven, organized, and confident in their technical expertise. Someone who takes pride in clear, buildable documents, strong code knowledge, and thoughtful coordination. If you enjoy solving real-world residential construction puzzles and elevating documentation standards across a team, we'd love to meet you.
Job Description:
The Architect at Model Remodel provides architectural expertise and technical design leadership for assigned residential remodeling projects. This role focuses on architectural oversight, permit strategy and coordination, documentation quality, constructability, and code alignment to support projects that meet client goals and MRM's schedule and profitability objectives.
Working closely with Designers, Client Services, Estimating, Production, and external consultants, the Architect supports consistent standards across drawings and documentation, helps identify risks early, and contributes practical recommendations that keep projects moving.
Job Requirements:
  • Licensed Architect with an active Washington State license required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in residential architecture or residential remodeling design.
  • Proven experience supporting permit strategy and jurisdictional coordination for residential projects, including managing corrections and review cycles.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes, zoning requirements, and energy code considerations.
  • Ability to review and guide architectural drawings for functionality, constructability, and code compliance.
  • Proficiency with residential design and documentation software (e.g., Chief Architect or comparable platforms).
  • Experience coordinating with Designers, structural/energy consultants, estimators, and construction teams to produce coherent, coordinated drawing sets.
  • Ability to identify architectural risks early and communicate clear, practical recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at varying stages.
  • Collaborative communicator who works effectively across disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Degree in Architecture or a related field required.
  • Experience with Seattle-area jurisdictions strongly preferred.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and active construction environments.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to work at a computer or desk area for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use a computer and accurately view drawings, details, and color information.

  • Competitive Pay (Exempt Salary): $105,000 - $130,000 DOE

  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with applicable plan
  • Company paid Life Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Generous PTO Accrual starting at 12 days per year that increases with tenure
  • 8 Paid Holidays
  • Employer match retirement plan (optional)
  • Open door communication - Easy access to Leadership Team
  • Additional Compensation - mileage reimbursement, company uniforms, and a cell phone allowance

This is primarily an in-office role based in Seattle. A limited hybrid schedule may be considered after an introductory period, based on role needs and performance. Please send Cover Letter and Resume (including references).
