Job Description

WELDER
Sealed Air’s equipment manufacturing facility, located in Ayer, Massachusetts, is seeking a Welder with exceptional work ethics to fill our current 1st shift opening (7:30 am – 4:00 pm).  The employee must have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.  The qualified candidates must be able work from written and verbal instructions under minimal supervision.  Our ideal team members must possess a solid work history with the willingness to learn our manufacturing processes.

Pay: $23 - 25

Shift: Morning

Specific Responsibilities Include:

•    Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints
•    Welding metal parts together using M.I.G. or T.I.G. systems on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
•    Preheat workpieces preparatory to welding or bending, using torch
•    Examines workpiece for defects and measurements with straightedge or template to ensure conformance with specifications
•    Dismantles metal assemblies or cuts scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment as needed
•    Selects, positions, and secures torch, cutting tips or welding rod, according to type, thickness, area, and desired temperature of metal
•    Fuses parts together, seals tension points, and adds metal to build up parts
•    Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
•    Accomplish organization goals by exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
•    Assures a safe work environment through understanding and following safe work practices
•    Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

•    High School Diploma or GED
•    Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
•    Ability to differentiate between metals
•    Minimum 2 years M.I.G. and T.I.G. welding experience
•    Minimum 2 years’ experience in metal fabrication    •    Ability to use all measuring devices.
•    Possess an understanding of proper heat and time settings
•    Ability to lift and move 40 lbs.
•    Familiar with Lean Six Sigma concepts strongly preferred.
•    Able to follow SOPs.
•    Must have reliable transportation
•    Able to read, write and speak English required
•    Goal oriented and self motivated
