This position is located at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, and will serve as a Security Generalist for the Marine Corps F-35 program. The role supports several onbase sites: the Marine Corps F35 squadrons, the Operational Training Complex (OTC), a Navy F35 squadron, and Marine/Navy higher headquarters.
Primarily responsible for acting as the program security Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the assigned Special Access Program Facility (SAPF). The candidate is responsible for maintaining a thorough understanding of personnel security processes and requirements, physical security standards for SAPFs, information security implementation, administrative security management, and classified material management, storage, packaging, and tracking.
Additionally, candidate will be required to participate in all facility activation, integration and sustainment activities, F-35 specific Special Access Program support, and overall execution of contractual security requirements. Candidate is expected to act as one of the primary Personnel Security (PERSEC) professionals at any of the assigned locations. Responsible for controlling access to all classified and Communications Security (COMSEC) areas in the assigned facility, providing escort when required, and assisting in the planning, evaluation, and execution of program security operations related to the assigned SAPF and management IAW current program guidance, DODM directives, and Navy and Marine Corps instructions. Aid other security-team members, as appropriate, and perform other duties, and potentially works other shifts, as required.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: assist pilots, support USMC/Navy personnel, ALIS personnel and visitors using facilities; operate badging and access control systems; perform personnel security tasks; conducting random searches; enforce all USMC/Navy and local security procedures and practices including controlling access to secure facilities, handling and storage of classified documents and electronic media. Monitoring compliance with COMSEC and COMPUSEC; provide assistance with file plans and documentation maintenance in classified containers; change combinations and generate SF 700s; assist in self-inspections and prepare for customer inspections; perform and document vault alarm tests; assist in security investigations; assist in providing training and scheduling of Custodians in specified locations.
This position will be hired to support primarily first shift operations to include weekends as required. On occasion, incumbents may be required to work 1st or 2nd shift and a non-standard work schedule that differ from their primary shift being hired for. Occasional business travel may be required to include deployment and detachment support in arduous or austere locations to support F-35 security operations outside of MCAS Iwakuni.
Must be able and willing to travel, to include Squadron deployments for extended periods depending on operational needs. Position may require the ability to perform in an arduous duty environment.
May be required to work at deployed locations, work rotating shifts, and work in excess of 40 hours per week.
Accompanied Status Available: Accompanied status means new hires may have their dependents accompany them on their long-term overseas assignment.
