Job Overview
Komatsu is seeking an experienced Field Technician Lead to serve as the technical and operational lead supporting electric drive haul truck operations at mine sites.
This role is responsible for guiding and supporting field technicians, providing hands-on troubleshooting expertise, and acting as the primary liaison between the mine and Komatsu service teams. The Field Technician Lead plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining strong customer relationships through proactive communication, technical leadership, and forward-thinking problem solving.
This job is located in the Safford/Morenci area, and a relocation bonus is available.
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe work environment and consistently follow safe work practices.
  • Lead daily safety meetings; collect and review FLRA cards.
  • Perform and lay out complex repairs with high accuracy and quality.
  • Evaluate equipment conditions and determine appropriate repair processes.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and complete minor and major equipment repairs.
  • Collaborate effectively within a diverse team.
  • Work efficiently to meet billable rate targets.
  • Lead service crews to ensure safe, efficient, and cost effective work that meets SLQDC standards.
  • Conduct shift start and daily line out meetings.
  • Inspect tooling and PPE periodically.
  • Coordinate short term tasks with the supervisor/manager.
  • Assess crew size and skill levels to assign daily tasks.
  • Collect and verify timecards; ensure proper coding and submission.
  • Communicate potential issues (materials, tooling, labor, quality, EHS, permitting, etc.) to leadership.
  • Share relevant customer or vendor feedback.
  • Coach and train junior technicians to build technical skills.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • 2-5 years of experience maintaining mining equipment (Electric Drive Trucks, shovels, drills, loaders preferred).
  • Ability to read prints and complete repairs to OEM specifications.
  • Willing to travel 100% for business needs.
  • Preferably resides in or around Safford, AZ, or willing to relocate
  • Clean driving record.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in hydraulics, low voltage electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
