About this Role: Join a dedicated team as a Relocation Counselor and play a crucial role in supporting families and individuals throughout the relocation process. With over 25 years of experience providing technical assistance and program management for affordable housing initiatives nationwide, the company offers extensive training, mentorship, and career growth opportunities. This position provides the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives while working in a supportive, professional environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for administering the relocation process's various phases for residents who qualify for relocation services.
  • Oversee the delivery of relocation services and benefits to residents and their families, ensuring high-quality service standards are met.
  • Proactively provide ongoing advice and support to the Development Team and residents, maintaining regular contact throughout the relocation period.
  • Conduct needs assessments at the start of the relocation process to determine residents’ specific requirements and address individual needs.
  • Work with residents and families to ensure all needs are understood and met, adjusting services accordingly throughout the process.
  • Guide residents and families through the location selection process that best fits their needs, managing and monitoring the home-finding process.
  • Input related data accurately and manage opportunities through completion, ensuring timely and correct documentation.
  • Review and evaluate exception requests and challenging situations, providing solutions and recommendations to residents and the Project Manager.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in direct client interaction and advisory roles preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge and ability to use standard office equipment (PC, calculator, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the Internet and web applications
  • Willingness to learn about affordable housing policies and Housing Choice Voucher regulations
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff at all levels, maintaining flexibility, confidentiality, and efficiency
  • Ability to work independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving, judgment, and communication skills, including editing and proofreading
  • Knowledge of general office procedures such as filing, correspondence, and scheduling
