Senior Superintendent – Large-Scale Ground-Up Construction | Chicago, IL Chicago, IL (On-site) · Full-time · Senior level $145K – $160K base+ 8–10% annual bonus Relocation available $815/mo car allowance About the opportunity Our client is a nationally recognized general contractor with over six decades of execution and an established presence across major U.S. markets. With a strong and growing footprint in Chicago, they are seeking a Senior Superintendent to lead field operations on landmark, ground-up construction projects in the Chicago area.

This is a high-visibility, senior-level role reporting directly to the Project Executive. You will own the site — managing trades, enforcing safety, driving schedule, and serving as the face of field leadership on projects of significant scope and complexity. The ideal candidate leads with humility, executes with hunger, and brings the technical self-awareness that separates great superintendents from good ones.

Project types you'll support Large-scale mixed-use and headquarters campuses K–12 and higher education facilities (suburban and charter) Industrial, healthcare, and laboratory builds Multi-structure developments including office, residential high-rise, parking, and amenity spaces What you'll do Serve as the on-site leader for all field operations on ground-up projects Lead, coordinate, and hold accountable all trades and subcontractors Conduct contractor meetings and enforce safety protocols across all trades professionals Oversee Time & Materials (T&M) tracking and reporting Drive schedule adherence using industry-standard scheduling tools Support the Project Executive with planning, reporting, and client-facing communication Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent certifications, with strong vertical build experience 7+ years leading projects valued at $25M+; 10+ years preferred with a vertical construction focus Demonstrated leadership of trades and subcontractors on complex projects OSHA 30-hour certification Proficiency with scheduling software and construction management technology A solid, verifiable project list — type, title, and value (required with application) Strong work history with consistent tenure Preferred qualifications 10+ years with a focus on vertical construction projects Safety Trained Supervisor of Construction (STS-C) certification Proven safety track record across large, multi-trade job sites
