What is Relocation Assistance Welding?

Relocation Assistance Welding refers to welding jobs or positions where employers offer financial or logistical support to help new hires move to a new location for work. This assistance can include covering moving expenses, temporary housing, travel costs, or other relocation-related needs. It's commonly provided when skilled welders are needed in areas with labor shortages or for large-scale projects. The goal is to attract qualified welders from outside the local area by reducing the financial burden of moving. Relocation packages and benefits vary depending on the employer and the specific job.

What are some typical challenges welders may face when relocating for a new position with relocation assistance?

When relocating for a welding position, one common challenge is adapting to different workplace safety standards or equipment, which can vary by region or employer. Additionally, welders may need to adjust to new team dynamics and work schedules, especially if the employer operates multiple shifts. Relocation assistance can ease the logistical burden, but settling into a new community and understanding local labor regulations may take time. Employers often provide orientation and ongoing support to help welders acclimate both professionally and personally.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Relocation Assistance Welding role, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Relocation Assistance Welding role, you need strong welding skills, knowledge of fabrication techniques, and relevant certifications such as AWS (American Welding Society) credentials. Proficiency with welding tools, safety equipment, and familiarity with blueprints and welding procedures specifications (WPS) are typically required. Adaptability, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are important soft skills, especially when relocating and integrating into new teams or environments. These skills ensure high-quality welds, safety compliance, and smooth transitions for both the welder and employer in various job locations.

Electro-Mechanical Technician (All Shifts) | $27.00–$44.80/hr | Milwaukee, WI

Tired of running from breakdown to breakdown with no time to fix anything right? Read this.

We're building a maintenance operation that runs on a plan, not on adrenaline. Palermo's is investing in the team and the technology to shift from reactive emergency repairs to planned, predictive maintenance. If you're a careful, methodical technician who has outgrown a chaotic shop, this is the environment you've been looking for: steady, organized, and built around doing the work right.

What You'll Do:
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems, working to the root cause so problems stay fixed.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, servos, robotics, and programmable controls.
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance and help us build predictive maintenance using equipment data and condition monitoring.
  • Spend your time fixing causes, not chasing the same symptoms every shift.
You'll Do Your Best Work Here If You:

Do your best work when the day has a plan and the shop is organized.

  • Are calm, methodical, and precise, and you fix root causes—not symptoms.
  • Have outgrown a reactive shop and want time to do the job properly.
  • Are a dependable, plainspoken teammate.
Pay:

$27.00–$44.80/hour based on experience, plus shift premiums on 2nd and 3rd shift

Schedule:Hiring on all shifts: 1st (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.), 2nd (2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.), and 3rd (10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.). You'll work a 12-days-on, 2-days-off rotation, including every other weekend, with your two-day break falling Tuesday through Thursday based on your schedule.

Looking to earn more? Additional overtime opportunities are available when business needs allow.

Perks:
  • 20 free pizzas per month
  • Free uniforms and reimbursement for safety shoes, prescription safety glasses, and tools
  • Fantastic benefits beginning the 1st of the month after hire
  • 401(k) & Roth with company match and fully vested on the 1st of the month after hire
  • 3 weeks Paid Time Off and Floating Holiday
  • On-the-job training and a real path to grow into Lead
  • Relocation assistance, where applicable
Who You'll Work For:

Family-owned since 1964, Palermo's grew from Papa Palermo's Sicilian recipes into a leader in private label and contract frozen pizza. Our Villa Palermo plant in the Menomonee River Valley runs an on-site bakery, robotic packaging, and 24-hour shipping. Your team is what keeps it all moving.

Where You'll Work:

Located in West Milwaukee, our Lincoln Avenue facility is a high-volume pizza manufacturing operation dedicated to producing the quality products customers know and love.

Working alongside a collaborative team, you'll help operate industry-leading equipment in a clean, fast-paced environment focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
