Description:

In this role, you will provide assistance to the Molding Department to produce a quality product in a safe and efficient manner. This entails process trouble shooting of injection molding operations and automation equipment, identifying areas for improvement, and being a resource to the department. Continuously improve operations and product quality by developing and maintaining optimal process parameters on new and existing injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. Assist in the development and troubleshooting of new and existing tooling.

  • Start-up/shut down of machinery, temperature controllers, cooling systems, valve gate systems, material mixing, and loading systems, to achieve standard operating efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain best possible injection molding process parameters. Document all process changes on the process log and in process tool report. Record all downtime on the shift report form.
  • Troubleshoot existing processes to maintain or improve quality parts. Evaluates process capability and develop solutions for improving process control.
  • Assist with line clearance, color changes, and workstation changes.
  • Work closely with management and other personnel to improve product flow, improve quality, and reduce scrap.
  • When necessary, complete work orders for maintenance of equipment and issues with molds.
  • Maintain production paperwork as required for the assigned shift and operator group.
  • Incorporate and maintain safety observances, including but not limited to, use of all PPE, ensuring guards and safety features are working, and promoting good daily safety practices and habits.
  • Act as a resource to the manufacturing operation to support lean and cost savings initiatives.
  • Always maintain good housekeeping and follow all procedures and safety rules.
  • Participate in the development of corrective actions, preventive and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in monitoring the activities and training of operating personnel.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma required. RJG or equivalent certification in injection molding preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with injection molding. Solid processing experience.
  • Knowledge of molds, set-up procedures, robotics/automation, chillers, in mold labeling and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of processing many types of resins; acrylics, nylon, polycarbonates, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene.
  • Good root cause analysis and problem-solving skills with good decision-making ability; good Mechanical aptitude.
  • Good communication skills. Communicates effectively with Teammates at all levels of the organization with good interpersonal, judgment and organizational abilities; bilingual a plus.
  • Understand Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience with ISO requirements.
  • Strong sense of urgency and dedication to pursuing operational excellence.
