Job Summary
The Medical Director is responsible for medically directing patient care teams of physicians, mid-level providers, and nurses. The medical director monitors and improves the level of care provided while helping to reduce operational costs over time. The candidate in this position has a strong background as a primary care physician as well as experience in a hospital administrative role. The Medical Director works closely with the team to help implement strategies that enhance patient care and improve our medical practice. 
Responsibilities 
  • Provides medical direction and administration including, but not limited to developing clinical practice guidelines. 
  • Prepares reports for the governing board. 
  • Supervises physicians and mid-levels and performs quality assurance activities. 
  • Act as the medical expert in dealings with vendors and non-medical facilities that work within the organization. 
  • Establish linkages with pharmacy and lab managers to address mutual concerns and improve the scope of services available. 
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment by applying principles of medical asepsis and infection control techniques and universal precautions 
  • Communicate with admin and other medical team members pre and post-therapy and participate in shared decision-making Familiarity with EHR and EMR record systems. 
  • Provides continuity in manager care for patients with pre-existing long-term problems. 
  • Obtains patient history, orders labs, and other tests prescribe medications and treatments. 
  • Documents all patient contact accurately and legibly on medical records. 

Qualifications
  • Medical degree with board certification in family medicine, emergency care, or occupational health.
  •  10+ years of medical experience and several years of medical management experience. 
  • Current licensure as an MD/DO to practice in the state of Florida by the State Board of Medical Examiners. 
  • Current DEA, DPS certification. Current CPDR certification required (ACLS preferred) Valid State Driver's License. DOT Certification and current immunization records. 
  • Current PPD Must be able to meet and maintain current credentialing and privileging requirements. 
  • Ability to work as an effective team member; function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative; be flexible to shift priorities; maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships and effectively assist providers.
