Teledyne Digital Imaging's products are used worldwide in machine vision, document scanning, image capture, surveillance, process monitoring, manufacturing inspection, medical imaging, and multimedia.
As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for a Reliability Engineer !

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for applying Design for Reliability (DfR) principles throughout the product life cycle, from concept and design through qualification, manufacturing, field operation, and continuous improvement. The role develops and executes product reliability strategies, qualification plans, test methods, automated test systems, and data analyses to demonstrate that products meet defined reliability requirements. This position works closely with Research and Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supplier Development, Quality, Program Management, and Customer Support to identify reliability risks, validate product robustness, investigate failures, and ensure that qualification evidence is available to support the Qualification and Reliability Review and Release for Sales milestones.

What You Will Do

  • Define reliability requirements, acceptance criteria, and qualification strategies for digital imaging products.

  • Develop and execute qualification and reliability test plans throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Identify reliability risks, failure modes, and improvement opportunities during design and development.

  • Design, automate, and maintain reliability test systems using Python and other software tools.

  • Analyze reliability, performance, and lifecycle data to assess product robustness and support engineering decisions.

  • Lead and support root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., FMEA, 5 Why, 8D, Fault Tree Analysis).

  • Drive corrective and preventive actions and verify their effectiveness through testing and analysis.

  • Prepare and present qualification results, reliability metrics, risk assessments, and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Monitor manufacturing and field performance data to identify trends and improve product reliability.

  • Support production, supplier, and customer reliability initiatives, including product changes and field issues.

  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Supplier Quality teams to ensure reliability objectives are achieved.

  • Develop and improve reliability processes, test methods, engineering standards, and best practices.

  • Provide technical guidance and reliability expertise to cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.

  • 5-7 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in product reliability, qualification, validation, test engineering, systems engineering, or hardware product development.

  • Hands-on experience developing and executing reliability, environmental, and qualification testing.

  • Experience integrating hardware, firmware, software, instrumentation, and environmental test equipment.

  • Programming and test automation experience using Python or similar languages.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting engineering data and preparing technical reports.

  • Knowledge of failure analysis, root cause analysis, FMEA, and corrective action methodologies.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical standards.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial cameras, digital imaging, image sensors, optics, embedded systems, or machine vision products.

  • Knowledge of image acquisition, image quality measurement, camera interfaces, and digital communication systems.

  • Experience with accelerated life testing, environmental stress testing, reliability demonstration testing, and statistical reliability analysis.

  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC, JESD, IPC, MIL-STD-810, or similar qualification standards.

  • Experience with reliability analysis tools, statistical software, and Design for Reliability (DfR) methodologies.

  • Hands-on experience with environmental chambers, vibration systems, oscilloscopes, data acquisition equipment, and automated test systems.

  • Familiarity with configuration management, source control, and structured product development processes.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) certification is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Copilot, Power BI, Project, and SQL databases.

  • SAP S/4HANA experience is considered an asset.
