Job description

The Project Manager will provide technical and project management oversight for regional capital projects, working closely with Area Operations and Operations Technical staff to optimize facilities and ensure reliable, safe, and cost-effective installations.

This position will oversee the development and execution of maintenance capital projects, providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle—from initial planning and estimating through construction and on-site commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and project management oversight for regional maintenance capital projects.
  • Collaborate with Area Operations and Operations Technical teams to optimize facilities, improve reliability, and support cost-effective project execution.
  • Assist with project cost estimates, budget development, and financial planning.
  • Develop material and equipment bid specifications and provide technical input for contractor procurement and selection.
  • Provide technical support and oversight during construction, installation, testing, and on-site commissioning.
  • Exercise sound engineering judgment when evaluating project requirements, technical solutions, risks, and execution strategies.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, exposures, opportunities, and potential impacts to project scope, cost, schedule, safety, and overall success.
  • Develop and facilitate project communication channels, status meetings, and reporting processes to provide management with clear visibility into project progress and overall project health.
  • Prepare and communicate project status, risks, issues, milestones, and recommendations to appropriate management teams.
  • Coordinate directly with external agencies and regulatory authorities regarding the development, implementation, and completion of capital projects.
  • Support regulatory and agency requirements, including certification filings, technical responses to agency requests, and project reporting.
  • Contribute to project execution strategies, contractor selection decisions, and contractor performance management.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring priorities, schedules, deliverables, and resources remain aligned with project objectives.
  • Ensure project activities are performed in accordance with company policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external regulatory requirements, including those established by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Provide technical and organizational leadership throughout project execution while maintaining a strong focus on safety, reliability, quality, cost, and schedule.
Required Qualifications
  • 7–10 years of professional experience in gas transmission or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and provide technical oversight for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with capital project development, cost estimating, specifications, construction oversight, and commissioning.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent engineering judgment and make technically sound decisions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Engineering, contractors, management, external agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
