We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transmission Protection & Control Engineer IV to join our team at K&A Power Group in Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Youll be part of a dynamic, people-focused team where your expertise, ideas, and contributions will be valued and celebrated.

Role Expectations:

  • Develop P&C scope of work packages ensuring constructability, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Duke standards.
  • Assess substation yard/control house impacts, specify equipment changes, relay upgrades, cable requirements, and telecom needs.
  • Identify material and equipment requirements.
  • Conduct site visits to document existing conditions and planned changes.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and documentation.
  • Perform engineering studies and support increasingly complex design decisions.
  • Coordinate with Construction, Maintenance, Project Management, Planning, and Operations.
  • Maintain records and support project schedules with minimal oversight.

What were looking for:

  • B.S. Engineering (ABET accredited)
  • 6+ years engineering experience or 5+ years with PE
  • Active PE license required
  • Experience with protection settings and substation control design
  • Familiarity with SPCC plans and oil containment
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
  • Utility industry experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of project management principles

Pay Range $45-55/hour
