Overview

University Radiology, the largest provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services in NJ, is comprised of over 200 Board Certified radiologists with advanced U.S.-based training and expertise in all modalities and all subspecialty areas. In operation for more than 60 years, University Radiology staffs, manages and provides preliminary and final subspecialty interpretations and consultative support for hospitals, imaging centers and other medical facilities, and serves as the academic radiology faculty at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Our physicians interpret over 2.1 million radiology procedures per year.
Responsibilities
University Radiology is seeking a full-time Neuro IR Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team at our East Brunswick, NJ office.
8:30am - 5:00pm
  • Due to the nature of the complicated diagnoses, patients are frequently considered TBI (Traumatic Brain-Injured) and experience PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Neurointerventional navigator must be extremely sensitive to the patient needs and may assist to refer to psych/Brain Aneurysm/AVM support group at the recommendation of the Neurointerventional radiologist.
  • Collaborates effectively with referring MD, Anesthesiology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, vascular surgery and other radiologists as needed to provide coordinated care.
  • Excellent understanding of Insurance company requirements/pre-certification processes with good understanding what is required from each insurance company as well as appropriate timing of scheduled procedures based on insurance requirements.
  • Schedule procedures in MI with excellent knowledge of precertification requirements.
  • Manage approximately 15 to 25 consults weekly and a large amount of weekly follow up MRI/MRA or consults. Excellent knowledge of Doxy for telemedicine visits when needed. Facilitate patients' usage of Doxy for their scheduled telemedicine appointments.
  • Books cases based on level of difficultly at the hospital in respect to acuity of cases in relationship to Neurointerventional radiologist's schedule in coordination with anesthesia and neurosurgery/other disciplines as needed.
  • Flexibility due to ever-changing neuroradiologist schedule and need for coordination with other disciplines' availabilities. Able to cancel or reschedule clinic to accommodate emergencies.
  • Work order lists on ARV to assist in scheduling pending procedures and follow-up's.
  • Maintain excellent professional relationship with CINJ and subspecialized referring physician office staff and the Special Procedures Department at RWJ.
  • Maintains knowledge of procedure and protocol to assist the technologist or radiologist with the procedure including patient preparation.
  • Obtain clinical information, reports or images prior to the procedure.
  • Must be able to explain procedures to patient.
  • Time sensitive Dual Antiplatelet therapy management (Plavix/ASA) initiation, monitoring and adjustment based on sub specific lab data (Verify Now Lab Test) from the lab at RWJ.
  • Continual monitoring of medications /lab values to adjust and maintain. Assess and report to Chief Administrative RN and/or Neurointerventional radiologist patients that are non-responders and need to start on substitute meds such as Brilinta /Eliquis.
