Job description

Overview
As an indispensable part of our dynamic medical team, the Neurointerventional Surgery (NIS) PA is entrusted with a critical blend of both clinical and technical responsibilities. This position is uniquely curated for empathetic professionals who possess a keen eye for detail, outstanding critical thinking abilities, and a robust understanding of radiologic science and imaging techniques. NIS PA plays an essential role in patient care, providing comprehensive support throughout diagnostic imaging procedures, and ensuring the delivery of accurate, high-quality results.
Performs advanced neurointerventional procedure or interventional radiology patient care activities and procedures. Assists physician during all invasive, neuro / vascular, and other special procedures. Provides patient care to all patients with invasive procedures, including acquisition and radiographic care for the purpose of diagnostic and/or treatment.
Responsibilities
  • NIS PA with triage NIS patient with NIS attending in ER and inpatient, write consult and participate in NIS procedure as a scrub teck/PA in the angiosuite and help operate the biplane machine.
  • Manage radiological equipment and ensure proper maintenance and operation
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during radiological examinations
  • Write a required post procedure note and orders with hand over patient to the ICU or floor team.
  • NIS PA will work with nurses to prepare patients groin, putting sterile drape, connecting lines with 3 ways with rotatory hemostatic valves, and with the catheters.
  • The NIS PA will round with NIS attending in the ICU and stroke unit, complete progress notes
  • The NIS PA will participate in NIS procedure as a scrub technician /PA in the Angio suite and help operate the biplane machine.
  • The NIS PA will write a required post procedure note and orders with hand over patient to the ICU or floor team.
  • Knows and practices, regulations governing sterile techniques. Versed in the use of patient monitoring equipment and knowledgeable in emergency procedures if called upon by the doctor and/or nurses conducting the examination
  • Notifies Supervisor, service engineers, or Department Supervisors of any room or equipment condition which may warrant corrective action, repair, and replacement; or may in any way contribute to any reduction in the safety, health, or welfare of the patient or employees.
  • Perform other duties as required.

On Call:
  • Neurointerventioinal Surgery (NIS) PA will accept "On Call" duties in accordance with the needs of the Service.
  • "On Call" is described as the ability to be located and respond to an emergency special procedure within 60 minutes after proper notification is started.

Qualifications
Education:
  • BS Degree in accredited Physician Assistant Program

Experience:
  • Minimum three (3) years experience as a Radiology tech. Experience as Physician Assistant (PA) is preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to fully utilize OBH's electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
    • Ability to operate imaging equipment.
    • Must always remain courteous and confident
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Licenses, Certifications:
  • Licensed and currently registered as a Physician Assistant in New York State.
  • New York State Radiology Technologist License. ARRT certification preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
  • Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
