Job description

Line of Business: Service & Support Pay Range: $67,130.00 – $89,516.66 The Risk Specialist I supports the administration and execution of Heidelberg Materials' North American risk management and insurance programs. This role is responsible for coordinating insurance-related activities, managing supplier prequalification and surety processes, maintaining risk management data systems, and ensuring accurate documentation and compliance across the organization.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage the ISN Supplier Prequalification System, including regular regional meetings with Procurement and ISN and handling ISN training.

  • Assist the Risk Manager in coordinating the placement and administration of the Company’s insurance program, including analyzing underwriting information for accuracy and timely completion of applications.

  • Assist with the Ventiv RIMS system, analyzing data for accuracy, and creating and maintaining historical risk exposure schedules for the firm's property and liability programs.

  • Distribute Vehicle ID cards and upload records into the company system.

  • Manage the Surety program and process, including working with brokers and field personnel to ensure timely issuance, increases, decreases, name changes, follow-up, and documentation.

  • Work with brokers to distribute certificates of insurance at renewal and process certificate requests from third parties.

  • Manage insurance-related invoicing, including coding, tracking, filing, auditing premium payments, and assisting with insurer and broker billing activities.

  • Assist with insurance provider inspections, audits, compliance activities, technical inquiries from the business, and provide guidance as needed.

  • Develop and update processes and procedures, assist with acquisition projects, and support the Risk Manager with special and ad hoc projects as assigned.

What Are We Looking For

  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience in Insurance or Risk Management.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft excel and other Microsoft products.

  • Knowledge of risk management programs; knowledge of research and analysis techniques.

  • Knowledge of insurance policies, certificates of insurance and surety, preferred.

Work Environment

  • Executive-level role supporting operations across North America.

  • Hybrid, office-based, and field engagement as business needs require.

  • Regular collaboration with senior leaders, functional teams, and external partners.

  • Travel within the U.S. and Canada required to support business objectives and stakeholder engagement.
