What is a regional dedicated Class A driver?

Regional Dedicated Class A Drivers are professional truck drivers who operate commercial vehicles, typically tractor-trailers, within a specific geographic region. They are 'dedicated' because they usually haul freight for a specific customer or account, following consistent routes and schedules. These drivers generally return home on a weekly basis, which offers more predictable home time compared to over-the-road (OTR) drivers. They must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and comply with all federal and state transportation regulations. This role is ideal for those seeking job stability and regular routes.

What are the typical routes and schedules like for a regional dedicated Class A driver?

Regional Dedicated Class A Drivers usually operate within a specific geographic area, allowing them to return home multiple times per week or even daily, depending on the employer. Routes are generally consistent, serving the same customers or lanes, which helps drivers establish a routine and build familiarity with delivery sites. Schedules can vary, but most dedicated positions offer predictable start times and days off, making it easier to balance work and personal life. While the job may require some overnight stays, extended periods away from home are uncommon compared to over-the-road positions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a regional dedicated Class A driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Regional Dedicated Class A Driver, you need a valid CDL Class A license, a clean driving record, and knowledge of DOT regulations. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and basic truck maintenance is typically required. Dependability, time management, and strong communication skills help drivers meet schedules and maintain good client relationships. These skills and qualifications are crucial for ensuring safety, compliance, and reliable delivery of goods across assigned routes.

What is the difference between Regional Dedicated Class A Driver vs Local Delivery Driver?

AspectRegional Dedicated Class A DriverLocal Delivery Driver
CredentialsCommercial Driver's License (CDL) Class ACDL or standard driver's license, depending on cargo
Work EnvironmentOver-the-road, regional routes, often overnight or multi-day tripsLocal routes within a city or region, daily home time
Employer & IndustryTrucking companies, logistics, freight carriersRetail stores, food service, local distribution centers
Search & Comparison IntentRegional dedicated routes, long-haul, CDL jobsLocal delivery, daily routes, same-day delivery

The main difference between a Regional Dedicated Class A Driver and a Local Delivery Driver lies in their work scope and environment. Regional drivers typically operate over larger areas with overnight stays, while local drivers focus on same-day deliveries within a specific area. Both roles require a CDL, but the work settings and schedules differ significantly.

Are regional dedicated class A drivers in demand?

Regional dedicated Class A drivers are in high demand due to ongoing driver shortages in the trucking industry. These drivers typically require a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), good driving record, and often benefit from consistent schedules and routes, making them a sought-after role for logistics companies.

Job description

CDL CLASS A DRIVERS WANTED — REGIONAL POSITIONS.
Call 562-486-7050 or 310-919-9831.
$5,000 SIGN-ON BONUS FOR NEW DRIVERS.
$1,000 DRIVER REFERRAL BONUS.

MDB Transportation is hiring experienced CDL Class A drivers out of our San Bernadino, CA terminal.

REGIONAL / PER MILE:
  • $0.60 per mile for solo drivers.
  • Runs 250+ miles — Western states.
  • Consistent weekly home time.

Team drivers: ask about our $0.80 per mile team rate.

POTENTIAL EARNINGS:
$70,000 – $100,000 per year — plus your $5,000 sign-on bonus. Steady, dedicated freight means consistent paychecks year-round, not feast-or-famine miles.

BOTH POSITIONS INCLUDE:
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus for new drivers.
  • $1,000 bonus for every driver you refer.
  • Dedicated dry van freight available — steady, year-round work.
  • 99% no-touch freight.
  • Weekly pay via direct deposit.
  • Full benefits package — medical, dental, and vision.
  • W-2 company driver position — NOT 1099.
  • No contractor setup, no 1099 deductions.
  • Company equipment.
  • Professional dispatch support.
  • Long-term stable opportunity.

YOUR TIME MATTERS:
We understand that drivers spend time doing more than just driving. Our pay is built to compensate professional company drivers for the full trip cycle — driving time, loading and unloading, pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and required work related to the load.

ABOUT MDB TRANSPORTATION:
We have been moving freight out of Compton since 2002. We are a 100% asset-based dry van carrier running a modern clean-energy CNG fleet — with our own on-site fueling station and on-site mechanics, so you are never stuck waiting on a third-party shop. We run dedicated customer freight across the West Coast with consistent lanes and steady miles. At MDB you are a name, not a truck number — you will know your dispatcher, and they will know you.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience.
  • Clean driving record — reliable and safety-focused.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English (FMCSA requirement) — bilingual is a plus.
  • No special endorsements required.
  • Must be able to work as a W-2 company driver.

APPLY TODAY:
Call 310-650-0239 or 562-486-7050.
