Summary
The Education Service Center supports districts in the selection and implementation of high-quality instructional materials to ensure that all students have equitable access to grade-level, rigorous content.
The Professional Development Consultant for 6 - 12 English Language Arts will support districts with high quality professional learning sessions and targeted technical assistance that enhance academic outcomes for middle and high school students. The role entails strong collaboration with other ESC's content specialists and TEA. The consultant will need to draw upon previous experience in a school or district to implement curriculums, ensuring fidelity of implementation through PLC supports, walkthroughs, modeling, coaching and assessments, specifically in the content area for the specific role ( English Language Arts 6 - 12 ).
This consultant will also provide regional campus and district educators with technical assistance and professional development opportunities in, the Science of Teaching Reading, ESL/Dual Language, TCMPC, state initiatives, special programs, and area of assignment. The consultant will be expected to design and deliver customized professional developments based on needs, requests and data.
Qualifications
This position requires a Master's Degree; valid TX State Teacher Certification; a minimum of five (5) years' experience teaching 6 - 12 English Language Arts; Bilingual/ESL certified, preferred; successful completion of Reading Academy coursework preferred; deep content & pedagogical knowledge & skills; experience in public presentations and communicating complex information; development of effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups including district administrators, teachers, education experts, and all other relevant stakeholders. Success leveraging different strategies and interpersonal skills to move the work forward, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability when presented with a change of course and deadline. A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve. Other requirements: Applicant must have prior experience using data analysis software and communication tools including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, previous budget & program management experience; a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
