Through regenerative farming and direct-to-consumer shopping, Ground Market aims to evolve food systems and provide delicious, responsibly-raised meat for climate-friendly folks everywhere.


Ground Market is part of the ecosystem of The Ground, a collection of experiences and destinations rooted in the philosophy of conscious, loving hospitality in service to all species.


Why we need you

We are seeking someone to assist in our Ground Market Farmers Market booth and sales. This is a part time, weekend position that would be working at specific farmers market locations with total hours ranging from 8-16 hrs/weekend. Opportunities for additional on-site work may be available throughout the season. 


Responsibilities for Sales Associate

  • Staff the Ground Market Farmers Market, talk to customers, and assist with sales
  • Help set up stand with tents, freezers, display stands, signs, etc.
  • Greet and assist customers in an engaging and professional manner
  • Help take down tents, displays, freezers, and pack up truck.
  • Maintain current and thorough knowledge of all available products and partners to effectively advise and sell to customers in person
  • Maintain the appearance of the booth and all displays
  • Prompt, personable, knowledgeable, solution-oriented responses to customers 

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Personable, friendly, and a genuine desire to provide outstanding service
  • Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
  • Experience using Point of Sale systems, preferably Square
  • Proficiency to communicate with customers, vendors, and coworkers through phone, email, and in person
  • Experience in attracting and retaining customers 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take independent initiative without direct supervision
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance
  • Must be available to work weekends 
  • Experience providing excellent and gracious customer service plus follow through
  • Familiarity and passion with grass-fed and regenerative meat products
  • Must have a clean driving record

Working conditions: Position requires prolonged standing, bending, and lifting products and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds

Experience: 2+ years of experience in retail sales, farmers markets, hospitality, or similar


Work Location: The person in this role will be working directly from the farmers markets in the Portland Metro area. Hollywood (Saturday), Happy Valley Farmers Market (Saturday), Tigard (Sunday), & Montavilla (Sunday).
