Job description
The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), seeks a committed Family Medicine physician to join core faculty at the MCW-Prevea Green Bay Family Medicine Residency Program. This role is instrumental in shaping resident education and clinical experiences. Clinical duties comprise 60% of this position, with additional responsibilities in teaching and mentorship. Opportunities for obstetrics and inpatient care at St. Vincent's Hospital are optional. We are comprised of nationally and internationally renowned, dedicated group of faculty and staff with a strong commitment to clinical care.
Position Highlights:
- Provide outpatient care, dedicating 2-3 half-days to personal patient visits.
- Precept residents during 3-4 half-days of clinic, focusing on patient-centered care, clinical efficiency, and professional growth.
- Develop and integrate a refugee health curriculum, tailoring it to meet the unique needs of the Green Bay community.
- Serve as a mentor, providing individualized feedback, guiding career planning, and supporting resident wellness and professional development.
- Participate as a Core Curriculum Committee (CCC) member, conducting resident evaluations semi-annually to assess competencies and guide progress.
- Work collaboratively with the residency leadership and faculty to enhance program quality, ensuring alignment with ACGME standards and best practices in medical education.
- Contribute to the recruitment and selection process, including interviewing candidates, assessing fit, and promoting the residency program.
- Encourage and support residents in quality improvement and scholarly projects, assisting in design, execution, and publication where possible.
- Engage in ongoing curriculum review and innovation to meet evolving educational standards and residents' learning needs.
- Build partnerships with community organizations, particularly those supporting refugee and underserved populations, to expand learning opportunities and resident engagement in the local community.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Chair or Chair-Designate
- Engage in obstetric care at St. Vincent's Hospital if desired, joining a call pool of Family Medicine faculty to provide continuity OB and newborn nursery care.
- Supervise the work of residents and medical students and residents on the Family Medicine Teaching Service at St. Vincent's Hospital
The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at the Medical College of Wisconsin teaches a comprehensive, whole-person approach to care. In an age where specialists abound, DFCM incorporates the broader behavioral sciences into the practice of medicine and values a patient-physician relationship within the totality of family and community. With our progressive partnerships and strong, community-based residency programs, DFCM pioneers student learning opportunities that deepen the understanding of the social, economic and cultural aspects of patient care.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine
- State medical licensure, or eligibility to obtain license, in the state of Wisconsin.
- Rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful finalist.
