Job description

Process Engineer
Location: Greensboro, NC
About the Opportunity
As a Process Engineer supporting the NU/MU business, you will play a critical role in optimizing manufacturing processes, improving operational performance, and advancing continuous improvement initiatives at our Greensboro, NC, Moulton, AL and Pevely, MO plants.
This highly visible, hands-on position serves as a key technical resource for operations and works closely with cross-functional teams to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and reliability. You will have the opportunity to drive meaningful improvements, support capital projects, and help shape the future of our manufacturing capabilities.
This role requires 50% travel to the plants it supports.
What You'll Do
  • Champion process and personnel safety by supporting regulatory compliance and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) excellence.
  • Review, develop, update, and maintain manufacturing processes, procedures, and standard operating practices (SOPs).
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for plant processes, driving improvements in productivity, quality, reliability, and cost performance.
  • Lead process optimization initiatives to improve throughput, reduce variability, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Analyze production and process data to identify trends, root causes, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimization, then implement sustainable solutions.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, R&D, technical marketing, and other stakeholders to support business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies, automation solutions, and digital tools that strengthen manufacturing performance.
  • Train and coach production personnel on process best practices, operational standards, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Evaluate capital investment opportunities, develop business cases, and support project execution from concept through startup.
  • Participate in engineering projects, ensuring deliverables such as process documentation, specifications, risk assessments, commissioning plans, and startup support are completed successfully.
  • Develop, maintain, and support Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure safe and effective implementation of process modifications.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related engineering discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing, or continuous improvement within an industrial environment.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies; Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to drive process improvements and operational decisions.
  • Knowledge of process optimization, root cause analysis, process control, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail.
