What is refractory construction?

Refractory construction refers to the installation and maintenance of heat-resistant materials, known as refractories, in structures that are exposed to extremely high temperatures. These materials are commonly used to line furnaces, kilns, incinerators, and reactors in industries such as steel, glass, cement, and power generation. The primary purpose of refractory construction is to protect equipment from thermal damage, corrosion, and mechanical wear, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Workers in this field are responsible for building, repairing, and replacing refractory linings according to precise specifications. The job requires knowledge of various refractory materials, installation techniques, and safety practices.
