Role Description This is a full-time, on-site 5 Axis Set Up Machinist role based in Morgan Hill Ca. The machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating 5-axis CNC machines, including loading programs, selecting tooling, and verifying proper workholding. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints, performing first-article and in-process inspections, and making necessary adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and surface finish requirements. The role involves monitoring machine performance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with other team membere and quality teams to optimize machining processes. The machinist will also maintain a clean and safe work environment, follow all safety protocols, and document production information and quality checks as required.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC machines, including matsuura, haas, ycm, doosan, tooling selection, workholding, and program loading.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T, with a solid understanding of machining best practices.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and performing first-article and in-process inspections.
  • Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting machining issues, adjusting offsets, and optimizing feeds and speeds for efficiency and quality.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, equipment care, and maintaining an organized, clean work area.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, programming, and quality personnel.
  • Prior experience in a precision manufacturing environment; experience with aerospace, medical, or high-tolerance industries is beneficial.
  • Relevant technical training, apprenticeship, or coursework in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred.
