Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is actively recruiting Scaffolder - Adhoc for offshore Newfoundland and Labrador 

This position will require you to travel to offshore Newfoundland and Labrador via helicopter or supply vessel. Individuals

must be comfortable working in remote locations, confined spaces, and at heights.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:                    

  • Erect and dismantle scaffolds in accordance with Scaffold Operating Procedure.
  • Monitor scaffold materials and highlight any overages / shortages to Offshore Scaffold Lead.
  • Ensure that all equipment is fit for purpose condition prior to use and quarantine any defective materials.
  • Execute scaffold inspections as per Scaffold Operating Procedure.
  • Ensure that documentation is maintained in accordance to Scaffold Operating Procedure.
  • Must be conversant with all relevant standards, specifications, rules, regulations etc. including Permit to Work (PTW).

Ensure work is executed in accordance to agree guidance documents (i.e. work packs, work instructions, procedures and governing specifications).

Skills / Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Must have successfully completed a scaffolding training program from a recognized training institution and deemed to meet the requirements of "Competent Scaffold Erection" and "Advanced Scaffold Erection" as per CAPP guidelines.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the applicable construction procedures and regulations related to the erection of scaffolds (i.e. CSA Z797 "Code of Practice for Access Scaffolding").
  • Must maintain scaffold certification in accordance to CAPP Guidelines.
  • Experience in an industrial maintenance environment (preferably in the offshore or petro-chemical / refinery industry).
  • Familiar with various types of scaffold materials (i.e. system scaffold, tube-and-clamp).
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may also be considered.                                

For this position, the following training/certifications would be considered and asset:

  • Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA.
  • Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015).
  • Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness.
  • Fall Protection.
  • Confined Space Entry.
  • Emergency First Aid.
