Senior Control Systems Specialist

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Control Systems Specialist - DeltaV & Foxboro to join our team. This is a full-time, onsite position supporting a large petrochemical manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day support for existing Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS), ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.


The ideal candidate will serve as the primary technical resource for Emerson DeltaV and Schneider Electric Foxboro systems, providing troubleshooting, maintenance, system improvements, and operational support while working closely with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and instrumentation personnel.


Responsibilities


  • Provide day-to-day onsite support for Emerson DeltaV and Schneider Electric Foxboro DCS/ICS systems.

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, communication, and process control issues to maintain system reliability and minimize downtime.

  • Configure, maintain, and optimize control strategies, operator graphics, alarms, trends, and system databases.

  • Support plant operations during normal production, turnarounds, startups, shutdowns, and maintenance activities.

  • Perform system backups, software updates, patches, and preventative maintenance.

  • Implement control system modifications in accordance with Management of Change (MOC) procedures.

  • Support the integration and troubleshooting of field instrumentation and control devices.

  • Diagnose and resolve communication issues involving OPC, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial protocols.

  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including functional specifications, operating procedures, and as-built documentation.

  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, reliability, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for process improvements.

  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and contractors during maintenance activities and system upgrades.

  • Maintain awareness of industrial cybersecurity best practices and support compliance with site standards.

  • Participate in after-hours support and call-out activities as required to maintain plant operations.


Qualifications


  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Industrial Control Systems in a manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical, refining, or similar industrial environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV and/or Schneider Electric Foxboro Distributed Control Systems.

  • Experience supporting operating facilities rather than solely project-based engineering.

  • Solid understanding of process control, instrumentation, control valves, transmitters, analyzers, and field devices.

  • Experience troubleshooting DCS controllers, I/O systems, operator workstations, servers, and industrial networks.

  • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols including OPC, Modbus TCP/IP, Foundation Fieldbus, Ethernet/IP, and related technologies.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance with plant procedures.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Emerson DeltaV and/or Schneider Electric Foxboro training or certifications.

  • Experience in continuous process manufacturing, including chemical, petrochemical, refining, or industrial production facilities.

  • Experience with DCS upgrades, migrations, lifecycle management, and system optimization.

  • Familiarity with historian systems, alarm management, and industrial cybersecurity best practices.

  • Full-time, onsite position at a large industrial manufacturing facility.
