A Refined Fuel Driver in Iowa safely transports and delivers petroleum products—such as diesel, gasoline, and heating oil—to commercial, agricultural, and residential locations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver Fuel: Transport refined fuels safely using a tanker truck to retail stations, farms, and local job sites.

  • Handle Equipment: Connect and disconnect hoses, operate pumps and valves, and monitor fluid flow during loading and unloading.

  • Maintain Compliance: Follow strict federal Department of Transportation (DOT) and state environmental safety regulations.

  • Complete Documentation: Maintain accurate electronic logs, bills of lading, and pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Licensing: Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

  • Endorsements: Current Tanker and Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) endorsements. If not current, company will help new hires to obtain necessary endorsements.

  • Medical: Pass a DOT physical and a substance screening.

  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50–100 lbs., climb ladders on transport trailers, and work in varying Iowa weather conditions.

  • Experience: Generally, requires 1 to 2 years of commercial driving experience; petroleum or tanker experience is highly preferred.
