SUMMARY - The Kitchen Utility Worker maintains the kitchen work areas, dishes and restaurant equipment in clean and orderly conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scrapes food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine.
  • Holds inverted glasses over revolving brushes to clean inside surfaces.
  • Washes pots, pans and trays.
  • Washes worktables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks.
  • Segregates and removes trash and garbage and places it in designated containers.
  • Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans.
  • Sorts bottles and breaks disposable ones in bottle crushing machine.
  • Polishes silver using burnishing machine tumbler, chemical dip, buffing wheel and hand cloth.
  • Delivers and stocks food to specified area.
  • Receives food and places hot food in warmers and cold food and salads into reach-ins.
  • Keeps warmers/refrigerators clean throughout the shift.
  • Ensures proper labeling and rotation of foods
  • Stir food frequently to avoid dryness and cold on top.
  • Ensure freshness of food items.
  • Ensures work areas are clean and sanitized

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
    • All Employees must be knowledgeable to all Company policies and procedures, including fire and safety regulations.
    • Must be able to lift and move 50+ pounds.
    • Must be available to work required shifts including weekends and holidays.
    • Previous demonstrated success in meeting attendance requirements.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • One to six months of experience in food service environment preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment usage, kitchen safety, and etiquette.
    • Must place an emphasis on a high level of guest service and give the best service possible
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Must possess and be able to maintain required certifications as required by geographical area of the property.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
