JOB IDENTIFICATION

Job Title:         Youth Soccer Official

Grade:             I                      

FLSA:             Non-Exempt

Department:    Recreation

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to:      Athletics and Facilities Manager

Supervises:      N/A

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the direction and supervision of the Athletic Supervisor, this part time seasonal position will be responsible for refereeing soccer games for the Des Plaines Park District Youth Soccer League. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Referee youth soccer games as assigned. 
  2. Provide leadership to work effectively with the public, program participants, volunteer coaches, and families.
  3. Keep accurate records/reports and complete all written records as required.
  4. Maintain program area in a safe and orderly fashion.
  5. Inspect the soccer fields prior to each game and report any unsafe environments to the Activity Supervisor on duty. 
  6. Maintain a positive public image and attitude with good public relations and customer service.
  7. Wear appropriate official’s uniform.
  8. Attend all pre-season official’s meetings and trainings.

OTHER DUTIES

  1. Direct participants in the event of an emergency, such as fire, severe weather.
  2. Communicate with Athletic Supervisor regarding any equipment needing repair or replacement.
  3. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual and Crisis Manual.
  4. Any other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:                   High School student or of higher education.

Experience:                 Must be at least 16 years of age or older

                                     A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience

                                     Knowledgeable of soccer rules

Certifications:              CPR and First Aid Certification, Classes available through Park District   

                                    Must have a valid driver’s license.
