| Aspect | Redox Biology | Biochemist |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Bachelor's or Master's in Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields; specialized training in redox processes | Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related fields |
| Work Environment | Research labs, academic institutions, biotech companies focusing on cellular redox processes | Laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, research institutions studying biochemical reactions |
| Industry Usage | Primarily in biomedical research, disease mechanisms, oxidative stress studies | Broadly in pharmaceuticals, research, and development of biochemical products |
Redox Biology specialists focus on cellular redox processes, oxidative stress, and related mechanisms, often requiring specific training in redox systems. Biochemists have a broader scope, studying chemical processes in living organisms, which may include redox but also encompasses other biochemical pathways. Both roles are vital in research settings but differ in specialization and application areas.

Summary
Cancer Biology Postdoctoral Fellow The Jiang Lab in the Department of Molecular Oncology is recruiting a Cancer Biology Postdoctoral Fellow. Research in our lab sits at the interface of redox biology, metabolism, and signaling, with a focus on understanding how antioxidant systems regulate oxidative stress responses and cancer therapy resistance. We combine molecular biology, functional genomics, metabolomics, proteomics, and in vivo models to address these questions. Position Highlights: Interdisciplinary research environment with opportunities for trainees from diverse scientific backgrounds. A supportive and highly collaborative lab culture, with access to well-equipped in-house core facilities and active collaborations across Moffitt. A unique translational research environment that integrates outstanding patient care with cutting-edge clinical and basic research. Outstanding mentorship from expert faculty with wide-ranging, funded research programs. Strong encouragement and support for postdoctoral fellows to apply for fellowships, training grants, and career development awards. The Ideal Candidate: Is highly motivated to address fundamental questions in cancer biology, cancer metabolism, and redox biology. Has a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, signal transduction, redox biology, metabolism, or cancer immunology. Has experience with mouse models or a strong interest in developing in vivo research skills. Works well as part of a team and communicates clearly and professionally. Responsibilities: Lead and drive independent research projects under the guidance of the PI. Communicate regularly with the PI regarding research progress, experimental plans, and data interpretation. Collaborate with lab members, including technicians, students, and other postdoctoral fellows. Present research findings at conferences and publish results in peer-reviewed journals. Credentials and Qualifications: Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, biochemistry, or a related field is required. Strong work ethic and motivation to lead and drive projects independently. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. How to Apply: Interested applicants need to apply online and include a single PDF file: (1) a cover letter summarizing research training and accomplishments, (2) a personal statement describing scientific interests and career goals, (3) a current CV with recent publications, and (4) contact information for three references. Additionally, you may send materials to Dr. Chang Jiang at Chang.Jiang@moffitt.org. Application Deadline: Open until filled. Moffitt Postdocs are provided with Medical Insurance (Moffitt covers premium for team members) effective upon start date and eligible for Dental, Vision, Paid Time Off, Retirement, Parental Leave and more. You may be eligible for relocation assistance per policy. Reasons to relocate, aside from the sunshine, beaches and year-round outdoor recreation associated with the Gulf Coast of Florida, Tampa is a thriving metropolitan city, which has become a hub for ground-breaking research, welcoming individuals from around the globe.
