Job Description
Job Title: Medical Hematologist/Oncologist
Profession: Physician

Hours per Shift: 8 hours
Experience: Minimum 2 years in Hematology/Oncology required
License: California Medical License required
Certifications: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology; DEA; ACLS
Must-Have:
Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Hematology and Oncology
California Medical License
Fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology
DEA Certification
ACLS Certification (required if requesting Moderate Sedation Privileges)
Description:
The Medical Hematologist/Oncologist will provide outpatient chemotherapy and infusions as a solo provider.
There is a mid-level provider available to assist with patient flow and orders.
Client consults will be required during on-call periods.
The physician can work directly with the emergency room physician or hospitalist for any necessary admissions.
Responsibilities include all aspects of diagnosis, staging, precision medicine, symptom management, and treatment of hematology/oncology patients.
The physician will oversee both the oncology/hematology clinic and infusion services.
The infusion center requires the physician to be onsite for all treatments.
The infusion center provides chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood/platelet transfusions, hormone therapy, antibiotic therapy, rheumatoid arthritis injections, and therapeutic phlebotomies.
The physician is expected to manage 15-20 patients per day with a focus on various oncology/hematology cases.
Support staff will include 1 clinic RN, 2 medical assistants, 2 front office clerks, 1 quality analyst/billing, and 10 infusion RNs.
