The Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department is looking to hire Aquatics Instructors to teach classes and provide aquatic instruction for water safety, deep and shallow water fitness, aquatic arthritis classes, and other related classes. What you'll be doing:
Conducting aquatic instruction in the following related areas:
- American Red Cross water safety programs to include: pre-school classes, child and adult swimming classes, etc.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor
- Water fitness and aquatic arthritis fitness classes
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation or successful completion of GED preferred.
- One (1) year of experience in Aquatics Instruction is preferred.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must possess a current certification from a nationally recognized organization, i.e. American Red Cross, YMCA of USA, Aquatic Exercise Association or equivalent.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion (18 and older).
Additional Requirements
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Good hearing and eye sight required.
- Requires shift work to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
