About Beacon Kalamazoo
Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life-threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. We offer specialty care for heart/vascular disease, lung and sleep disorders, mental health conditions, and women's health. We offer a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, lab tests, respiratory therapy and rehabilitation therapy services.
What You'll Do
As a Paramedic Transport ,you will provide advanced life support for critically ill/injured patients at the scene and during transport as part of the transport team.
Paramedic Transport Job Responsibilities
  • Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility as part of the transport team in collaboration with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse.
  • Initiates and implements interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
  • Contacts receiving medical personnel, reports observations and follows directives.
  • Inspects, maintains and cares for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
  • May be required to drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies.

What You Bring
As a Paramedic Transport, you will demonstrate knowledge of ambulance and transport equipment, including the analytical skills required to modify equipment to meet individual patient needs. Possesses a solid foundation in transport protocols and critical thinking skills that support effective care and decision-making for transported patients. Adheres meticulously to sterile techniques and universal precautions. Exhibits strong guest relations and interpersonal skills, allowing for tactful and effective interaction with physicians, nursing staff, EMS personnel, respiratory therapists, patients, family members, and personnel from other hospitals and agencies. Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, ensuring that appropriate information is effectively shared with other team members. Shows leadership qualities, organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while prioritizing tasks and accomplishing goals. Performs effectively in high-stress environments, particularly when caring for critically ill patients, and maintains strong team-oriented behaviors while working in close collaboration with others. Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills, including data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets, and maintains awareness of legal considerations in all aspects of patient care and transport.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Drivers License credentialed from the Michigan Bureau of Motor Vehicles obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Paramedic credentialed from the Michigan Emergency Medical Services obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support preferred
