Job description

Role Summary

Drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, they will pick up waste at a customers’ location and deliver it to recycling/disposal facilities, while also being responsible for the accurate completion of the paperwork required for each pickup/delivery, and they are required to keep company vehicles maintained in accordance with company policy.

Job Duties

• Must drive company vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Maintain records of routes and times in accordance with state and federal law, as well as company policy.
• Must accurately complete all documents required for operation of company vehicles.
• Transport waste/supplies safely to their destination locations on time. As part of this duty, verify shipping loads against the paperwork and obtain signatures for materials when they are delivered/picked up.
• Responsible for accurate completion of all documents required for waste pickup including Job Orders, manifests, and Bills of Lading.
• Responsible for speaking knowledgeably and courteously to VLS customers and recycling/disposal facility staff.
• Responsible for keeping company vehicles clean.
• Daily inspection and maintenance of the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
• Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, in a way that facilitates the loading and unloading of the truck while observing all safety regulations and manufacturer’s safety instructions for that equipment.
• Take on material handling duties as necessary to complete the delivery of necessary materials to destination locations, including handling materials during loading and unloading.
• Relay customer feedback, including concerns, complaints, damaged deliveries, and competitive knowledge whenever it is presented.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to drive commercial vehicles which may include dry vans, flat beds, vacuum trucks, and roll-off trailers.
• Open and transparent verbal communication skills.
• Satisfactory written communication skills.
• Works well independently.
• Ability to manage time and routes.
• Familiarity with GPS devices or map apps.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment; including pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (Class C).
• Hazardous Materials endorsement.
• Minimum two years of commercial driving experience.
• Maximum 2 points on driving record.
