What does a recruiting agent do?

A Recruiting Agent is responsible for finding, screening, and recommending qualified candidates for job openings within an organization or on behalf of client companies. They manage the recruitment process from identifying talent and conducting interviews to facilitating job offers and onboarding. Recruiting Agents often work closely with hiring managers to understand job requirements and help ensure a good fit between candidates and employers. Their goal is to match skilled individuals with suitable positions efficiently and effectively.

How does a recruiting agent typically collaborate with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process?

A Recruiting Agent works closely with hiring managers to understand the specific requirements for open positions, define candidate profiles, and set expectations for the recruitment timeline. Regular communication is essential, as Recruiting Agents provide updates on candidate pipelines, gather feedback after interviews, and adjust sourcing strategies based on hiring manager input. This collaborative approach helps ensure that candidates presented are well-aligned with both the technical needs and the company culture, ultimately leading to more successful placements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a recruiting agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Recruiting Agent, you need strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of talent acquisition strategies, and typically a background in human resources or business. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruiting software, and, in some cases, relevant certifications such as SHRM-CP or AIRS is valuable. Exceptional communication, active listening, and negotiation abilities help you build relationships with both candidates and hiring managers. These skills ensure effective talent sourcing, positive candidate experiences, and successful placements in a competitive hiring landscape.

Job description

Business Insurance Position - DesjardinsAgent Team Member

Location:  Windsor
Type: Full Time

Position Overview:

Ready to build a career, not just find a job?

I'm looking for a motivated representative to join me as I grow my Desjardins agency. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in commercial insurance, client relationship management, and business development while helping local business owners protect what they've worked hard to build.

If you're driven, people-focused, and eager to learn, you'll receive the training, mentorship, and support needed to succeed.

Salary Range: $47,000 - $60,000

Responsibilities:

  • Develop leads, schedule appointments, identify customer needs, and market appropriate products and services.
  • Provide prompt, accurate, and friendly customer service. Service can include responding to inquiries regarding insurance availability, eligibility, coverages, policy changes, transfers, claim submissions and billing clarification.
  • Work with the agent to establish and meet marketing goals.

Requirements:

  • OTL/RIBO and/or Life License preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • A genuine passion for helping people and making a positive impact in the community.
  • Experience in relationship management, customer service, sales, business development, or financial services.
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening and consultative conversations.
  • Ability to identify client needs and recommend tailored solutions.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable presenting solutions to individuals, families, and business owners.
  • Insurance, life insurance, employee benefits, or financial services experience is considered an asset.

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of clients and local businesses.
  • Build a rewarding career based on trusted relationships rather than transactional sales.
  • Grow your professional network through community involvement and local partnerships.
  • Access to training, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Be part of a supportive team dedicated to protecting what matters most for our clients and community.

You will be hired to work at The Personal Insurance Company (“The Personal”) for a period of up to 60 days to allow you to complete training and licensing. If training and licensing are successfully completed, you will be considered for employment with an independent contractor Desjardins Agent.

We welcome applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for applicants in all aspects of the recruitment process.
