Job description

Receptionist Position

UofL Health is a not-for-profit fully integrated regional academic health system with nine hospitals, four medical centers, Brown Cancer Center, Eye Institute, more than 250 physician practice locations, and more than 1,200 providers in Louisville and the surrounding counties, including southern Indiana. The receptionist serves patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.

Essential Functions:

  • Answer phone calls and direct them appropriately
  • Check patient into the electronic medical record
  • Ensure patient packet questionnaire is complete, if not assist patient in completing
  • Address patients questions or needs
  • Review M.D. visit orders to manage and expedite ordered care (e.g., referrals, follow up visits, DME orders, test orders and medication orders)
  • Print paperwork for patient education and/or test instructions
  • Check patient out of the electronic medical record at completion of visit
  • Supports goals of department/organization. Works as a team player by enhancing team effectiveness, supporting, and assisting team members, the department and/or the organization

Other Functions:

  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent (required)

Experience:

  • One(1) year healthcare experience (preferred)

Job Competency:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities critical to this role:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Must understand and be able to perform professional phone etiquette

Language Ability:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats

Reasoning Ability :

  • Ability to solve practical problems

Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient with basic computer skills
