Holy Cross Hospital Mountain Point is a 40-bed full-service hospital serving the residents of northern Utah County. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Nuclear Medicine Tech, you will provide diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures for inpatients and outpatients through the administration of radiopharmaceuticals and the safe operation of imaging equipment.
Every day you will perform nuclear medicine procedures, precisely administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate various imaging and computer equipment, and maintain accurate records of radioactive materials from receipt through disposal. You will also act as a clinical resource and assure current standards of practice.
To be successful in this role, you will possess expertise in nuclear medicine procedures, meticulous attention to detail in radiopharmaceutical administration and record-keeping, a strong understanding of radiation safety, and the ability to operate complex imaging equipment while serving as a clinical resource.
  • Performs duties directly involved in a variety of technical procedures in the application of radionuclides for the diagnosis, therapy and treatment of disease, operating gamma camera/computer imaging systems, planar and SPECT and non-imaging equipment, producing quality diagnostic images and results for interpretation by a radiologist/nuclear medicine physician, and practicing all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA).
  • Processes radiopharmaceuticals from receipt and preparation through administration and disposal in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Prepares patients for exams, provides information and instruction to patients and/or families regarding the procedure, and responds to their physical and emotional needs.
  • Observes patients and equipment during procedures and reports/documents unusual occurrences and records patients' conditions.
  • Coordinates quality control procedures on equipment and radiopharmaceuticals according to department procedures and maintains records of quality control and radioactive materials for inspection by regulating agencies.
  • Performs IV starts and contrast administration as required

Job Requirements
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Registered Technologist, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine R.T. (N)(ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
  • Licensed Radiology Technologist for those working at a Kansas site

Preferred
  • Associate's Degree, is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One (1) year of nuclear medicine experience, is strongly preferred
  • Cardiac Nuclear Medicine registration
  • Positron Emission Tomography Registry preferred, if applicable to entity
