What is the difference between DCF and real options?

In the context of real options valuation, DCF (Discounted Cash Flow) analysis estimates a project's value based on projected cash flows discounted at a required rate, assuming a static environment. Real options valuation, however, considers the flexibility to adapt or delay decisions in uncertain conditions, capturing strategic value that DCF may overlook. Both methods are used in financial analysis and valuation roles to assess investment opportunities and project viability.
