Job description

REAL CEILINGS — Project Manager, Commercial Acoustical Ceilings Tampa, FL | Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM | Competitive Salary + Performance Bonus

WHY REAL CEILINGS?

Real Ceilings is one of Florida's fastest-growing specialty subcontractors, focused exclusively on commercial acoustical ceiling and wall systems. With offices in Tampa and Fort Myers and an expanding project footprint across the state, we're not just following Florida's construction boom — we're helping define it.

We've built our reputation on quality workmanship, trusted client relationships, and a people-first culture where accountability and growth go hand in hand. This is a company where strong performers move up — and where your work directly shapes the trajectory of the business.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a Project Manager who is energized by complexity, takes ownership from day one, and thrives in a high-performance, collaborative environment. Whether you come from a PM background in commercial interiors or you're a seasoned field pro in specialty acoustical ceilings ready to step into a leadership role, this is a chance to be part of something growing fast.

You'll manage multiple commercial acoustical ceiling and specialty wall system projects simultaneously — from turnover through closeout — serving as the primary point of coordination between field teams, clients, architects, vendors, and trade partners.

Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate outside the Tampa Bay area.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead projects end-to-end: manage acoustical ceiling and specialty wall system projects from startup through closeout with full accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Be the client's champion: own communication with GCs, architects, and owners — building trust through responsiveness, clarity, and follow-through.
  • Read and interpret RCPs, specs, and architectural details to identify constructability issues and scope gaps before they become field problems.
  • Coordinate specialty systems including wood ceilings, metal ceilings, clouds, baffles, feature ceilings, and acoustical wall panels — working directly with manufacturers and vendors to resolve detailing challenges.
  • Drive procurement and track long-lead materials to protect project schedules.
  • Support field superintendents and foremen with technical planning, sequencing, and problem-solving.
  • Monitor labor productivity, installation sequencing, quality control, job cost, and budget performance across all active projects.
  • Manage submittals, samples, vendor pricing, invoicing, RFIs, and project documentation with precision.
  • Identify and resolve field coordination conflicts involving MEP trades, lighting integration, soffits, and support systems.
  • Travel to job sites throughout the Tampa Bay region and broader Florida markets as projects require.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 3–5+ years of project management experience in commercial acoustical ceilings or specialty interior ceiling systems — OR equivalent hands-on field experience and a clear drive to move into a PM role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of acoustical ceiling installation methods, manufacturer systems, and specialty detailing.
  • Track record of managing multiple concurrent projects with different clients, trades, and timelines without dropping the ball.
  • A communicator who keeps everyone aligned — field crews, clients, architects, and vendors — without needing to be chased.
  • Sharp on the numbers: comfortable with budgeting, job cost tracking, labor productivity, and schedule management.
  • Experienced with construction project management software and proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to visit job sites throughout Florida.
  • Experience with specialty systems such as wood ceilings, metal ceilings, baffles, or custom architectural applications is a strong plus.

GROWTH AND CAREER PATH

Real Ceilings is in a period of intentional, rapid expansion across Florida. As we grow, so do the opportunities for the people who grow with us. We promote from within and invest in our team through hands-on mentorship, professional development funding, and direct exposure to senior leadership. For the right person, this role is not a ceiling — it's a launchpad.

If you're someone who wants to grow into a senior PM, operations, or leadership role at a company that will recognize and reward your contribution, we want to talk.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Competitive base salary + performance bonus tied to project outcomes, 401(k) with company match after 1 year, Health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Paid time off and parental leave. Tuition reimbursement and professional development funding. Relocation assistance available for candidates outside the Tampa Bay area.

HOW TO APPLY

Apply now and tell us about the projects you're most proud of. We review every application and respond to qualified candidates promptly.

Real Ceilings is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Company Description

A specialty ceiling company built around four principles. Not four hundred service lines.
We don't do everything. We do ceilings — the complex ones, the specialty ones, the scopes that require a contractor who actually knows what they're doing above the grid line. And we do them according to a set of values that aren't aspirational. They're operational.
R — Responsibility
We own our scope. Fully. From the first estimate to the final close-out punchlist, the work is ours — and so is the outcome. No blame-shifting. No change order surprises. No hand-holding required.
E — Efficiency
Construction is a margin business. We run lean operations, accurate estimates, and job sites that move. Because a general contractor's schedule is the only schedule that matters.
A — Autonomy
We put experienced, accountable people in the field and trust them to lead. Our superintendents don't wait for direction — they anticipate problems, coordinate trades, and make decisions that keep your project moving.
L — Leadership
Every person on a Real Ceilings job site is expected to lead their portion of the work. Not manage it — lead it. Own it. Improve it. Hand it off better than they found it.
