What are Ready Mix Drivers?

Ready Mix Drivers are professional truck drivers who transport and deliver ready-mixed concrete from batching plants to construction sites. They operate specialized trucks equipped with a rotating drum that keeps the concrete mixture agitated and ready for use upon arrival. In addition to driving, Ready Mix Drivers are responsible for safely loading, transporting, and unloading concrete, as well as maintaining their equipment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. They often interact with customers at job sites and may assist in pouring the concrete as needed. The job requires a commercial driver's license (CDL) and knowledge of both driving and concrete handling procedures.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Ready Mix Driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Ready Mix Driver, you need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a good driving record, and knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance. Familiarity with GPS systems, onboard truck controls, and sometimes OSHA safety certifications are typically required. Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills help drivers efficiently coordinate with dispatch and clients. These abilities ensure safe, timely concrete deliveries and maintain high standards of service and safety in construction environments.
