Our client, a leading importer of womenswear, is looking for a Sample Maker to join their team! The ideal candidate will demonstrate precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines. Candidates should be prepared to complete a sewing assignment on-site as part of the selection process.
Responsibilities:
  • Sew prototypes, fit samples, and pre-production samples according to specifications and details within the timeframe.
  • Select appropriate trims, zippers, threads, and other components
  • Apply correct sewing techniques, especially with delicate fabrics
  • Perform garment finishing, pressing, and trimming for high-quality results
  • Ensure all samples accurately reflect the design intent
  • Identify and flag discrepancies to the patternmaker
  • Recommend construction improvements for better cost-effectiveness methods
  • Collaborate closely with patternmakers and other colleagues
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience in garment construction and sample making
  • Proficiency in sewing sportswear, dresses, knits, wovens, and a variety of garments (pants, jackets, skirts, dresses, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of garment finishing, pressing, and final detailing
  • Hands-on experience with single machines and specialized equipment, including: overlock, blind stitch, buttonhole, cover stitch, snap machine, and marrow edge machine
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong time management with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
