What is a React Native Developer?

A React Native Developer is a software engineer who specializes in building mobile applications using the React Native framework. React Native allows developers to create apps for both iOS and Android platforms using JavaScript and the React library, enabling code sharing and faster development. These professionals are skilled in mobile UI/UX design, state management, and integrating native device features. They often work closely with designers and backend developers to deliver seamless, high-performance mobile experiences.

What are some common challenges React Native Developers face when working with cross-platform applications?

React Native Developers often encounter challenges related to ensuring consistent performance and appearance across both iOS and Android devices. Differences in device hardware, operating system behaviors, and available APIs can lead to unexpected bugs or design discrepancies. Additionally, integrating native modules or third-party libraries sometimes requires writing platform-specific code. Collaborating closely with designers, backend developers, and QA testers is essential to address these issues and deliver a seamless user experience on all platforms.

Renewed Vision

Job description

We're looking for a Software Engineer with strong production experience in React and Next.js, along with experience building and shipping applications using React Native.

You'll help build and scale the web and cross-platform client surfaces of our product ecosystem — owning meaningful features from API integration through UI delivery. This role balances strong hands-on execution with growing architectural influence.

We're excited about engineers who are stepping into senior-level ownership — people who consistently deliver high-quality systems, influence technical direction, and are ready to expand their architectural impact.

What You'll Work On

  • Build and maintain production-grade web applications using React and Next.js.
  • Develop and ship cross-platform mobile features using React Native.
  • Own features end-to-end — from API integration and data handling through component architecture and delivery.
  • Make informed decisions about state management, rendering strategies (SSR/SSG/ISR), and performance trade-offs.
  • Improve frontend performance through code splitting, bundle optimization, and render efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend engineers to translate requirements into clear, well-scoped technical plans.
  • Participate in design discussions and code reviews, contributing to shared patterns and best practices.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers through pairing, feedback, and knowledge sharing.

Must Have

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong production experience building and operating applications with React and Next.js.
  • Production experience with React Native, including shipping mobile features to end users.
  • Strong TypeScript fundamentals and experience building type-safe systems.
  • Experience owning meaningful features or systems in a production environment.
  • Solid understanding of frontend architecture, state management patterns, and performance considerations.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical trade-offs and collaborate effectively across teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with advanced Next.js features (App Router, server components, caching strategies).
  • Experience with monorepo tooling (Turborepo, Nx) and shared component libraries.
  • Familiarity with real-time communication technologies (WebSockets, WebRTC).
  • Backend experience (Node.js, API design, database modeling, caching strategies).
  • Experience working on media-rich or performance-sensitive applications.
  • Familiarity with Renewed Vision products (ProPresenter, ProVideoPlayer, ProScoreboard).

Growth & Development

Renewed Vision has a formalized engineering leveling framework with a dual career track — engineers can grow deeper technically or expand into engineering leadership.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to grow your architectural influence, lead larger technical initiatives, and shape shared frontend patterns across the organization.

Compensation

This is a full-time W2 position. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

About Renewed Vision

Renewed Vision builds production software used by churches, stadiums, broadcast studios, and live events worldwide. Our flagship product, ProPresenter, is the industry-leading live presentation and production tool — a technically complex, real-time rendering application that runs on macOS and Windows. We are a profitable, growing company with a small-to-midsize engineering team, fully remote.
