We operate on a simple principle: if it's not tracked, it didn't happen.

Our platform enables schools, districts, and partners to:

  • Track and verify service delivery and student outcomes in real time
  • Ensure compliance across funding streams, vendors, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide auditable data to support decision-making, reporting, and accountability

StudyTrack is positioned to become a category-defining product at the intersection of education, data infrastructure, and public funding accountability.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Software Developer to build and scale StudyTrack as a system of record for educational services, funding, and outcomes. This role requires an engineer who can operate at the intersection of application development, data infrastructure, and secure, compliant systems.

This is a hands-on role. You will work closely with product leadership, data scientists, and other developers to design, build, and maintain core platform functionality that is reliable, secure, and scalable.

Work Environment

  • Full-time position - Monday through Friday - 9am to 5pm CST
  • On-site working out of StudyTrack headquarters: 8318 Jefferson Hwy, Suite B, Baton Rouge, LA 70809

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Application Development
  • Design, build, and maintain core platform features across backend and frontend systems
  • Translate product requirements into clean, maintainable, and scalable code
  • Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical design
  • Find and fix system bugs
  • Fail-test system for security compliance  
Data & System Architecture
  • Build and maintain systems that support multi-tenant data models and strict data isolation
  • Ensure data flows are accurate, reliable, and optimized for performance and reporting
  • Support development of analytics, dashboards, and reporting infrastructure
Security & Compliance
  • Implement secure coding practices aligned with SOC 2, FERPA, and OWASP standards
  • Ensure encryption, authentication, and access control are properly enforced
  • Contribute to audit logging, data traceability, and system integrity
Platform Reliability & Performance
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, and uptime
  • Support infrastructure improvements related to deployment, monitoring, and recovery
  • Contribute to testing, debugging, and continuous improvement of the platform
Collaboration & Execution
  • Work closely with product, data, and leadership teams to deliver features on time
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain high engineering standards
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in software development
  • Strong experience with modern web frameworks and backend systems (e.g., Laravel, Node.js, or similar)
  • Experience working with relational databases (MySQL or similar)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure environments (DigitalOcean, AWS, or similar)
  • Understanding of API design, data modeling, and system architecture
  • Experience working in collaborative, product-driven environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms
  • Familiarity with security best practices and compliance environments
  • Experience with Redis, queue systems, or real-time processing
  • Exposure to analytics platforms or data-heavy applications
  • Background working in a growth-stage or founder-led organization.

This role will directly impact how data is captured, validated, and transformed into decisions. The Software Developer will help build the infrastructure that ensures every action is measurable, auditable, and reliable at scale.
