Job description

Cardiac Sonographers work with doctors to assess a patient's heart condition through the detailed images taken during an echocardiogram. Vascular Technologists assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of disorders affecting the vascular system. The RSDS/ RVT should know how to respond appropriately in emergencies.

Minimum Education

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or Cardiovascular Technology program that is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CMHEP) is required.
  • Associate degree in Science or Equivalent

Minimum Work Experience

  • Experience in Echocardiography or Vascular preferred

Required Licenses

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)***if not currently registered in echocardiography must obtain RDCS or RCS within 1 year
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), optional
  • Compliance with Continuing Education Requirements
  • BLS
