The Protective Services Team is seeking a full-time Detachment Clerk with exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
 
Reporting to the Office Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the RCMP and Municipal Enforcement using relevant police databases, computer-related software and communication devices. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy for processing paperwork and documents and have effective public relation skills. You will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate appropriately and professionally with internal and external customers, as well as have a high stress tolerance and ability to assess emergency situations and proceed accordingly as responses are extremely time sensitive and safety is of paramount importance.
 
What YOU’RE Responsible for:
  • Processing, screening and authorizing Criminal Record checks and serving subpoenas
  • Providing information and assistance to the public related to federal/provincial statutes and municipal bylaws
  • Handling complaints and inquiries courteously by telephone and at the front counter
  • Entering data, file retrieval and modification, and record management
  • Experience with radio communications
  • Reviewing and analyzing secured documents/files in PROS software
  • Other duties as assigned
What YOU bring:
  • Enhanced Reliability Clearance from the RCMP
  • A two-year Business Administrative Diploma (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Minimum of two years’ related work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Intermediate keyboarding skills with an accurate typing speed of 55WPM
  • Experience in providing service to clients or the general public by telephone, in person and in writing
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
  • Knowledge of relevant portions of federal, provincial, municipal legislation, statutes, and criminal code
  • Experience using the following software systems PROS, CPIC, JOIN, CJIM, PAT Collision, and Livescan
  • Experience with proper completion of various justice and legal forms

Conditions of Employment:
  • The successful candidate will be appointed by the province as a Community Peace Officer Level 2 for the purpose of swearing and/or serving legal documents on behalf of the Crown Prosecutors Office. The security clearance process includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, online activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.
